You've discovered RedGuides, an EverQuest multi-boxing and scripting community 🧙♀️⚙️. We want you to play several EQ characters at once, come join us and say hello! 👋
A TLP without truebox has thawed (Very Vanilla ready)
Something that I feel would greatly benefit community is a definitive guide to getting the most out of system resources, be it plugins, eq settings, graphics setting etc.
What's the best option? mq2eqwire? mq2cpuload?
Whaddaya got?
But it can seriously b0rk your setup. The weird thing, is without a great deal of tweaking (I just use mq2fps, mq2viewport and turn off sound and particles) my boxes normally end up using very little resource at all (3-400 MB, <1% CPU). There might be a trick to it that I'm missing, however, as they often initially start with about 1GB RAM.
eq has some slow but serious memory leaks, so no matter what you do, you really need to restart your computer after a while
mq2eqwire is amazing - highly recommended
stick figures for your alts
everything off in your advanced graphic options except leave hardware shaders.
all models off
mq2nav offers great functionality but it sucks donkey balls as far as crashing and resource usage goes. Those A* algorithms don't come cheap I guess.
If you can do whatever you are doing with mq2moveutils and/or mq2advpath then stick with those.
zonebench the INI i settled on makes a notable difference
I dont care much about memory usage as for the count of toons and PC I am on it is irrelevant
You will want to remove all particle effects (I have them on for events that use them)
You will want to lower the clip plane (I like it high and can handle it)
