Question - Lots of TLP questions.... State of TLP?

So I quit TLP/EQ for a while, was playing RF/LJ (not interested in phinny).

  1. Mitigation of the Mighty (MOTM)
Who all gets this? All named? All mini-boss? All main-boss?
I read that Wiz/Mag run out of mana on mobs with this, so people are preferring melee DPS. Melee make a big differfence? How do Necro's Do?

  2. Mark of the Old Way (MOTOW)
Who all gets this? All named? All mini-boss? All main-boss?
What is the # of pets that effects this? Is it that after 4 pets it shows up? I am confused how this spell works.

  3. Pet DMG
With mobs that do not have MOTOW I assume damage output is still great for a mage vs a wiz especially in group xp content?

  4. Pet Tanking
With mobs without MOTOW, how are mage / necro pets doing? Are they able to hold aggro for a group and last if a healer heals them?

  5. Ranger Ranged Damage?
What expansion do rangers typically switch to ranged damage? I am assuming Monk > Rog > Ranger for melee DPS at the moment. Does this change with ranged or ever?

  6. Ragefire
I assume it is more populated than LJ still?
How long till most 2-3group targets are killed? Within an hour of them popping?
    What about 3-5group raid targets?

  7. Lockjaw
How long till most 2-3group targets are killed? Within an hour of them popping?
    What about 3-5group raid targets?

Sorry couldn't figure out how to multi-quote nicely.

"I read that Wiz/Mag run out of mana on mobs with this, so people are preferring melee DPS. Melee make a big differfence? How do Necro's Do?"

Mage DPS, from parses I've seen, is 20k under rogues (60k total dmg from a rog vs 40k as a mage, however, mages are making mod rods etc.) I couldn't find anything in regards to necro/wizard parse, but I'm fairly certain it would be similar to mage DPS, if not less.

"Mark of Old Way Question,"

"Raid targets on progression servers now have the ability "Mark of the Old Ways". This will reduce the resistances and melee damage output and increase incoming melee damage of summoned companions with increasing severity based on the total number of summoned companions that are attacking the raid target. Increase the melee damage received by 2% for every 3 pets attacking the raid target. This change is intended to provide diminishing returns to the effectiveness of summoned companions as compared to players against these raid targets."

Mage and Wiz both deal out tons of damage; they are especially popular in AE groups. AC, The Deep, Velks, etc. Normally a bard will pull a train, an enchanter will PB AE stun, while AE classes rain down fire. :)

"With mobs without MOTOW, how are mage / necro pets doing? Are they able to hold aggro for a group and last if a healer heals them?"

Pets surprisingly hold pretty decent aggro; if you don't turn off pet taunt, it will normally steal aggro off of players. Healers normally don't draw a lot of aggro, especially if it's on a single target NPC. Vs several AE's, it's much more difficult for the pet to hold aggro. With that being said, it's important not to sit right after healing.

"What expansion do rangers typically switch to ranged damage? I am assuming Monk > Rog > Ranger for melee DPS at the moment. Does this change with ranged or ever?"
At level 59 RNG can switch to ranged damage. Endless Quiver + Archery Mastery + a solid bow will not only make a really easy box class with autofire, but they output tons of damage too. I think monk and rog will always top RNG DPS, but can't say 100% on this.

Ragefire/LJ Questions:

Not sure, I play on Phinny.

With that being said, I know you said you are against Phinny, but if you are interested in raiding, I would recommend trying the server out. Though we don't have a MQ2 compile available (and possibly will never have one,) there is still a lot of fun to be had.

So your post could look like:

If you're playing a wizard, or even a mage, from my understanding you need to downrank spells. It really depends on the fight as well. In my guild we have wizards that compete very well with our monks/rogues. Same with necro dps. If you're geared, you're going to be competitive in my opinion.

Mages get resisted a lot on mobs currently, not sure about luclin if it changes.

Ranger bow damage should never be higher than your melee unless you're just completely ignoring melee AAs/weapons all together. As people suggested though, it's not horrible, and makes for a good box.

Ragefire/Lockjaw both have raiding guilds and are still both active servers. They're not the same activity level as Phini, but you can use box. Everything phini has over ragefire/lockjaw will be gone in about 6 months.

Everything I am being told is that Rangers are Topping the parse currently with Bow + AA's, with TS Running.

Rangers are good, Monks are good, Rogues are good, Wizards are good

Necros will get better in GoD w/ Critical Affliction AA

Mages I can't comment

Beastlords are utility right now and won't get good for awhile

Lockjaw is actually doing a lot better than most people give it credit for. I logged in alts recently to bot Rathe figuring the server was indeed, dead, but people showed up daily at the game, even at weird hours of the day (3 - 5am EST) looking for hasten and bro z.

If phini doesn't appeal to you, stay away from it. That server is fully of drama queens so I strongly recommend Ragefire or if you don't use kronos and want to box by yourself, Lockjaw.

Ultimately what it comes down to is how you want to play. If you're a botter and are playing for FUN and aren't really interested in raiding/playing with others, Lockjaw is the best choice by far.

If you want to box/bot but join a raid guild and play with others, do Ragefire. LJ has two raid guilds, DHS who can't do current content and Faceless Insanity who are a bunch of assholes who have more drama under one roof than Phinigel does.

DHS kills AoW and ST regularly. Damage and Midnight Phyre are doing CT, Epics, HoT and some of the first NTOV dragons. Bot Guild regularly farms ST.
