The event in the expansion that released Journeyman 5 mercs (I'm sorry I can't remember the name) had an event (crystal... something) that would spawn a shitload of adds. I *think* as long as you had the named on agro and didn't kill it that it would keep spawning, but I'm not sure. I also don't recall if they dropped anything.
Super helpful, I know lol
It seems like your describing Korascian Warrens.. Seeds of Destruction was the xpac.. I know there was a raid that was there with the giant crystal or w/e and spawned minis.. i also dont remember if the adds/trash dropped anything lol (sorry!)
If you are farming mobs to farm plat, you are doing it wrong.
feel free to enlighten me :P would appreciate any help...
I started with a bazaar search of everything between 500k and 2mil. From there I looked at the items to see what could be farmed or made via trade skills.
There is also the question of whether or not something is droppable that is usabe/desired by certain classes. One item that sticks out is pet focii. The TDS pet focii from ... whatever the zone was.... was the highest level droppable pet focii at that point. It sold well even when TDS wasn't the latest expansion anymore.
Find stuff like that and it'll be WAY faster than farming a ring event.
Alternatively, just kill lots of mobs and sell the diamonds / blue diamonds to vendors. That's netted me a shitload of plat, too.
Pretty much this, although if you farmed blue diamonds and diamonds for a week 24/7 with a group of 6 toons, you'd end up with about 500k plat. I make about 1-2 mil plat in bazaar a day, just by setting up 5 traders. I never put anything on my traders that isn't worth 25k plat or less, why? Krono currently go for 2.2-2.4m plat on my server, so 1% of 2.4m is 24k plat. You have 100 slots to work with per trader, that comes out to be about 1 Krono a month net profit if you end up selling about 4.5m-5m plat worth of stuff out of those 100 slots per trader.
I never ever sell to buyers, this is probably the biggest mistake people make since its so easy and convenient. Learn to setup your own trader and sell the stuff you farm or make via tradeskills and you'll come out with a much much larger profit margin then if you sold to a buyer. Selling to a buyer if you run a trader at the same time , will just devalue the items you farmed or made.
With 5 traders, I usually come out to 12-15 krono per month. Now I have 2 mains that are all-access and 5 traders, so thats a net of about 8 kronos a month. Requires no use of mq2 either, completely legit way of farming plat since eq's bazaar system is so outdated there are plenty of tricks to make plat in bazaar if you know what you are doing. When RoS released, the first 2 weeks I banked 52 Krono, and about another 100 more in the last 8 weeks. Buying Krono at 2.2 mil plat each.

im looking for a dead zone with chain spawning mobs to do this.
That or even straight plat.
idealy ring type event ... kt used to drop plat off golems but they stopped...
Go do it with a group of 6 or even solo or group of 2, see how much plat you get from blue diamonds and diamonds after a week. Its not more than 500-600k plat (assumption based on 1 mob killed every 10-15 secs) a week if your only counting blue diamonds and diamonds (not including other stuff). That pretty laughable. You could do much better in bazaar in a week. No comparison.
You are better of doing the Sage Skins exploit that some are doing in PoK by loading 50 heroic toons and turning in quest pieces to sell the spells. Thats about 190 plat per turn in about 1 diamond value and you don't have to worry about RNG.
Except you have to get around the issue of your quest pieces poofing.... which I bet they're doing by dropping the task before it ends and doing the combine without the task... maybe without the task the quest giver guy just gives you your shit back and the spell, rinse repeat?
