Hello,

Recently just joined Redguides to use MQ2 and KA for EQ Test.
I understand MQ2 is broken on every patch. What is the normal eta to get Test back up and running after a patch?

We had a patch on Test on August 10th.

Thanks,

howdy Kazq,

Welcome to redguides :)

for updates, macroques2 has to be rebuilt, then once that is rebuilt, redguides Very Vanilla can be rebuilt with all of the redguide's stuff.

live builds are frequently updated more quickly, because often times major changes are already figured out by the test patch from the week earlier - test can sometimes take a bit longer if they make any major changes.

they're typically been patching in this order - 2nd wed test patch -> 3rd wed live patch -> 4th wed test patch again to bring "test up to live". so that 2nd wed test patch (which was tuesday this month for some reason) can sometimes take longer

This is the most recent update from eqmule from yesterday afternoon

Thanks for the reply Sic. Watched a lot of your videos. Great job man. Good stuff.

is there anyway around waiting for the updates?Other than give up on Test and go to live. Lol.

Thanks,
Kazq

nah if it wasn't needing to be updated, it wouldn't be down

Good to know. It is where I would also like to play if the uptime is high. Thanks for the response.

I would say we have about 4-5 days of patch downtime every month with Test. Live might be a little less, but all-in-all, not really that bad.

I have some Live stuff I do when Test is down just to goof around.

What server do you recommend on Live to mess around? FV?

FV is the highest populated for sure. That whole no trade removal is quite a draw.

This says update for Test, Redguide launcher for test as been down for the past couple of days. Is it ever going to be available again?

yes, as it usually takes somewhere from a day to a couple of days to patch test

we have to wait for mq2 to be patched, and then RedGuide's VV to be rebuilt. you can get notified when they're back and ready to go.

EQ typically patches test twice a month - 2nd and 4th Wednesday, the 2nd Wednesday patch is usually the most involved one for update purposes, so it generally takes the longest - the 4th Wednesday patch is "usually" just bringing test back up to the live patch from the 3rd Wednesday.

Curious when Very Vanilla will be updated? You'll get a web notification (if we have permission), site notification, and email (optional)

hey everyone i play on test server alot and when i try to load my team up on redguides launcher the test side has been saying "patch day unavailable" for a couple days now

Yep they are still trying to update the codebase for it to work with the eq server. This typically happens each time they patch, and it will vary as to how quickly they can figure out what needs to be changed. At this point it's just a matter of waiting until they can get it updated and pushed out to us. You can monitor the main test post and they will update when the new one is ready for download. That's what I typically do.

you can see the updates from mule in this thread.

tl;dr - there were some eq updates that made regular mq2 updates a little more challenging than normal

I don't know very much about how to do much of anything but I was curious if there's something I could do to help keep the VV updated for test. It seems like it's been taking a hot minute to get a new version out, looking like five or six days since last patch? Wasn't sure if there was something going on behind the scenes that's making it problematic or...

I merged your thread into MQ2 Test Server thread - you can see the previous posts for what information we have from the MQ2 dev, EQMule, that keeps MQ2 for test updated.

tl;dr - there were some changes that eq made due to perks and due to expac that are taking longer than normal.

you can > Click this to get notified when MQ2 for Test Server is updated < if that is helpful to you

Heard about all the difficulties for test server so thought I'd figure out what all the fuss was about. Anyways I've got a working build of macroquest (next) but I have some logistical issues to sort out because we haven't released any test builds for next yet. I'll probably just post the source later tonight.

Mule pushed the MQ2 Updates for test.

VV will be rebuilt shortly - ETA 1hr.

Testies hold strong! reprieve is on the way!

there are a lot of things broken. It takes time to test and fix properly.
OK yes, thank you. Sorry for bugging you, was worried it was proper gorked. Figured I'd ask tho just in case it had been forgotten, 5 day weekend comin' up and the plan is to be proper irresponsible...

This was not a normal patch. It took several days to fix because item struct was broken, spell manager, plus some functions that finds items for us and then also the regular stuff that always breaks and finally some other structs that mostly are nice to have perfect but users wont notice that I still liked to correct.

Also a lot of time was spent on looking at changes like the 11 bagslot and so on which also complicated things because, we have it hardcoded in some places. Which of course also broke moving items to cursor since that’s now the slot for bag 11...

etc.
Big patch, they are preparing for the expansion beta.

yeah and like i mentioned, they're going to be updating it for bag 12, so hopefully you don't have to do a bunch of repeat work come wednesday!
