wanna play better and IM thinking if its possible to learn from top users logs to analyze how they played / casted
spells / AAs and how they did better dps .

So,
1 is this possible
2 Where to get those logs

i still use gamparse for stuff like this, can see if people arent performing quite as well as they should and can see what theyre using to give better advice

for example. Once had a geared ranger in my raids (im a RL) who was underperforming but a quick look and it showed they werent using nukes and just straight melee - next raid, instantly improved.

Eqlogparser, but the only way you’re going to get data is if you’re raiding the high end (or have a good friend who does) or by testing yourself, gathering data, analyzing the data, make tweaks and repeat. You can look at class specific cast data, dps by person, adps timelines for each individual etc

The other big component is understanding how spas, focuses, etc all interact at a very high level. Understanding how timing of when each person does what affects the others outcomes (eg enc CH w mage of many and Druids big dot). Why in a caster dps group of auspice is on why a necro shouldn’t use their anguish robe, why bards should stagger their epic and fierce eye, etc

The other source of good info are the class discords. If you read sancus write up for mages for example it’s phenomenally written including what to use when and in what situations etc. Similar materials exist for many of the classes but that one really is over the top in its level of detail

Take care to actually learn what logs say, instead of looking for things that support a bias. Logs also aren't always the whole picture, which doesnt mean they're not useful, but understanding the circumstances the log came from is important.

Very much this...
ALL too often I see folks want a cookie cutter at the start of the fight do this list of 4-6 things. Then midfight as cooldowns come up do these and so forth. But there are fights where you dont want to start with tossing the kitchen sink at a mob. There are fights especially raids where a bane, or where crowd control or where a later burn is desired due to hp locking in the event etc. SO if you look at a parse for those sorts of fights you will get results CONSISTENT with that sort of a fight but not necessarily information that you were looking for in general use. Also raid mechanics like 'run away' or 'duck' or silence will impact DPS for some but maybe not all of a raid/group parse. Finally encounters that require movement will impact DPS Looking at a log file will not show movement. It can show emotes that require movement but not the movement itself.

Also a note mentioned above. You can overstack stuff. There are times where 1 APDS going from any source is all that is needed and you can save skills/discs until it drops because you are only going to get a very small benefit using your skill while the other is running. Avoiding wasting discs makes a big difference in the overall scheme of things.

If you're trying to learn to play a class, log files will not be much help. There are guides out there, usually on the various class Discord servers, that detail exactly how to play. Trying to reverse engineer that from the log files will be much more difficult. So whatever your class, get on their Discord server and read their guide. Then you can ask questions in the Discord chat on the individual details. Everquest is a solved game. The optimal play method has been researched and documented for all the community to see.

Yup, it really is. There are slight tweaks for event to event on who should burn what when depending on strat and guilds overall dps numbers but the core basics are all solved.

Using other players logs won't be very helpful without context for the encounters. Can you explain how you think basic logging of information from other people will help you in your endeavors? There is far more strategy in the game aside from pure number crunching.
