Problem - Lag help.

Alright I suppose its time I ask this question.

So I have been using KA version 6.8.6 for the longest time, now I know how to fix it easy, but when I do I get soo much lag its un playable. So, I have been keeping the old version up cause it works. My question is, does anyone know why I lag so much with the newest version of KA. Also even without MQ loaded my characters lag to where it is un playable, like it only works when I have MQ running with KA version 6.8.6.... any help would be cool, thanks!

Hmm, is this with one character or many characters? In the ingame settings do you have frames limited or background frames limited? Open up your task manager (ctrl+shift+esc), and see if something is maxing out your processor (CPU), memory, storage (disk), or videocard (GPU). You might need to widen the task manager window to see all that for each process.

So, 1 char runs perfect with and without MQ. 12 chars runs perfect WITH MQ, shitty without MQ. processers are running the same on each. its the FPS that is getting messed up without MQ running. not sure how to check the ingame frame settings. ill look into that.

Options window, Display tab, Advanced Options button, and use the little slider to change the settings on the Max. Frames Per Second and Max Background FPS. Also, do you use McAfee? Or windows defender? May be an additional cause. But that guide Dobber123 linked should be your first stop.

As Knightly stated it could be that windows defender is scanning your log files in real time... check in your everquest directory in the logs folde for the size of the logs.. use /log off on each char in game. to turn off logging
you can also make a folder exclusion for windows defender for both everquest and macroquest. in windows go to windows security / virus and threat protection settings . Add them under Exclusions. this is in windows 10.
