The normal window isn't showing that shows all of the commands while playing. I can do the commands, but don't see what's happening. I am using the default UI

Nope. The box/ window normally in the upper left part of the screen is gone and doesn't load, so I can't tell what processes/ commands are being run. Side note, this is the first time running this on a new laptop. I am also using a vpn, which is new to me.

That's the mqconsole window isn't it? Maybe try /mqconsole show?

Err nope, I don't think it is the mqconsole window. I think it's this https://www.redguides.com/community/resources/mq2chatwnd.110/
According to that wiki page I think you can get it back by running /plugin MQ2ChatWnd load. I suppose it's possible it's there but just off screen, which I think you can fix with /mqchat reset
