Problem - KissAssist not saving my character.ini changes

Returning player after 11 years and I tried and tried to do this and searched web for an answer and could not find one.

I do /end in game then I change the KissAssist_Mage.ini file and save it. I reload that save and make sure it's still changed then I do the /mac kissassist with my SK targeted then go back and reload the file I changed and it's right back to the old version.

I did read this "In game commands will change kissassist during the session but once you end the session it will go back to its original saved state"

So I existed the game and shut down RGs launcher and closed macroquest and changed the .ini again. loaded it all back up and checked file and it was still changed while my toon was sitting in game. Soon as I do /tar SK /mac kissassist it goes right back to original saved state.

So I am doing something wrong and would appreciate a bit of help

Yes I did read these KissAssist guides and did not help. And I also watched the 5 getting started videos.

Trying to edit the KissAssist .ini cause most of my toons do nothing but sit there and cast and mem spell out of the Gem 8 slot which is fine, but they won't mem any other spells into the 12 Gem slots. Yes I changed some of those spells to what my toon actually had and still won't mem anything.

I always reccomend you make a hotkey to load your KA that does a lot of the detail work yourself cause if your KA file isnt named correctly you'll get this same issue

/mac kissassist ini kissassist_Nameinifilename.ini [KissRole] [AssistsName] [AssistHealth%]

Not only will this aid you in your ability to use multiple INI files for different roles, but you wont have to target people specifically to get them on assist. In addition, if you modify the file, it wont go behind your back and make another file in the default file name and "not save your updates"

this may not exactly be your problem, but its one thing to eliminate to make it more consistent.

edit: you can just update the "assistname" and make your KA assist anyone just by modifying the hotkey.

Welcome back. Make sure you understand kiss ini files are now in the config folder and not the macros folder

Yes I am in the config folder editing the KissAssist_Name.ini. No matter what I do it goes back to original saved state. Even though I edit it out of game or /end in game and do it.

Okay tried something else.

I copied the text in the KissAssist_Toonname.ini then made a new file on my desktop called same name and then deleted the existing file in the config folder. Did this all while I was still in game. Then I putt hat desktop folder I just copied back into the config file and ran Tar SK /mac kissassist now changes are staying saved. I /end then did a small change again as a test and that stayed saved after executing again. So not sure what's up with that.

As long as it stays working I am okay except the KissAssist Mage.ini still does not work right. I will figure it out eventually.

Just check if you file property don't have read only checked.

When in doubt:

Step 1. Delete any INIs that you have made.
Step 2. Go ingame on the character you want to run KissAssist on; Type: /mac Kissassist and target your MA.
Step 3. This creates a new INI file that you should edit and use.

If none of this works above, then you either are out-of-date with the build of either VV or Kissassist.

I would recommend a full reinstall of Redguides and do steps 1-3 again.

If that doesnt work, then idk lol

yep.

if your files aren't updating i would consider checking that a: you didn't make them read-only, b: you don't have a/v or file syncing causing read/write errors

Not sure why it was not saving before cause I tried to about 30 times. But now I am able to save it just fine on all my toons with no problem at all.
