Question - How to Power Level

Hi all

I am playing on the new TLP server and SoV has just opened and I want to level a few more chars before Luclin and PoP. I see people selling power leveling and they can get levels very quickly and its profitable for them. I was wondering if there were any guides on how they do it? I am not looking to sell or start up a business I am interested in learning from it and maybe even trying it for my own boxes.

I know they mass pull and AoE down mobs but really would like to know if there is a good guide or some videos somewhere that someone could point me at please.

Thank you and sorry if I have missed something when searching I have tried to find it :)

Hi Mole,

AE groups are always the same 2 Enc 1 healer 1 puller (prfered bard with ae slow song) 2 Wiz/mag to ae nuke down the pulls..

But I think there is no way to automate it... To mutch variable to pull, stun, heal etc..

Cool thanks for the detail is there any guides or more information about what you put in the exp group at what level etc?

I guess if we talk about leveling from 40-60 so they can group with a max level you could put the DPS in group but I assume that reduces your exp. Can two enchanters keep loads of mobs stunned enough for 50% of the exp to be done in group and mages outside to finish them off maybe?

Seems there is some maths to be done on getting the balance right between things in and out of group to get the most exp without wiping due to taking far too long to kill?

Thanks

Hey,

sorry I haven't done Aeing alot.. so I just know the basic group setup but I think you can PL with one Enc oog and maby healer oog.. But that's just my guessing.

ive done and sold AE pl in the past on TLP. what's said above is pretty much how its done but its important to note that when your mass pulling mobs in the deep the pulls can get hairy due to the amount of zone lag created. having a cleric pull with as many DA options available (clickys aa spells etc) really helps. also awhile back DPG tried to nerf the aoe PL model by putting enchanter ae stun spells (the color slant lines) all on a singluar timer. so instead of using 1-3 enchanters a lot of folks now use a minimum of 3 ... usually 5-6 enchanters to ensure that the mass pull remains permanently stunned.

that being said your looking at a minimum of 6 accts and most likely 9 accts to pull it off. its still doable but requires more financial or krono investment to do it ... imo if your just looking to PL a couple characters its probably cheaper just to pay one of the aoe crews the krono

Cool Thanks for the insight that is very helpful and interesting!

I currrently have 2x 60 Ench - 3x 60 Mages - 1x 60 Cle - 1x 60 Bard - 1x60 SK - 1x 60 druid - 1x 60 Shm - 1x60 Wiz

I just wound find doing some fast leveling fun rather than anything else especially before pop - to plvl some rangers and maybe another cleric etc.

So I would put mages \ wizards in group with my rangers - Cle could pull and encanters stun outside the group and bard AoE slow? Then pull mobs and just hope that they die before the DPS are dead? :)

Oh and what would be the best way to do 1-40? As I guess you can't do it this way unless you had lower level DPS chars to put in group?

Thanks

Mole

Take your Druid to zone that fits with lvl of your plees and pull 30-40mobs heal yourself (agro building) get your plees do 1point of dmg to every mob (bard aoe slow for example) per mob and cast DS on your duid and let them die from DS dmg... all exp goes to your plees. Rinse and repeat 😉

Solid way to go IMO. I particularly liked FoB and Kurns Tower. Undead don't run at low health.

I would go with sk plus druid. SK has it much easier to create instant huge aggro. Doesn‘t have the SK an own DS almost as powerful as the druids DS which stacks. Atleast at hight lvl its the case.

Maybe overpowered for the first lvls, but if you feel the xp is going down, as a combo you can boost kills that way. Just take care about riposte by swapping weapon for 0-dmg Item.

When getting closer to lvl 60 you may want to add the mages to the mix. Their short-duration hight dps ds‘es could offer another boost to the kills.

The concept of power leveling is a very ambiguous term. It really can take on any forms or assistance to develop a character to its desired level. The leveling of a character depends on many criteria that may or may not be acceptable to the person whom you are leveling.

First one must consider, " Time allowance" The person who wants his toon leveled will ask this generic question " I want to get my toon from level *** to *** and how long will it take and how much" ?

Second question he or she may ask " Do I have to be at the computer ?

Now understand this, if you take too long in the task , you probably will piss of the person and things can get "messy" very quickly. So be sure to be clear on timing and what you will be doing to reach the desired objective.

I understood, that mole intends to understand what would be an effective way, but so he might can grow up some of his chars.
In this case he can have a break whenever he likes and no risk to piss off someone, apart from bad advices given here 😉

All great information thank you!

Yes I am not looking to get anyone else involved it was just another thing in Everquest I wanted to try for myself really. Less pressure then!

I am interested if my enchanters can stun enough to keep DPS\Cle a live on bigger pulls as that does sound where most of the risk is.

As reguards the 1-40 PL thanks I have done a bit with the druid or a cleric in the past and that worked well. When it comes to the SK as we are only in SoV and soon lucin is this viable, how does the SK keep agro this early without doing damage as I think even the snare is a Dot too?

Thanks

Mole

SHD is the most easy group tank basically because has a damageless AE taunt spell granted every 5 levels since OoW. So you just stand, spam that spell and look at mobs attach to you. This spell line don't share a spell timer, so you could multibind like 10 AE Taunts and spam them.

That's how you keep aggro, with this spell line.

Bur since you are on an old expansion and not by OoW... you just spam lvl 11 snare and pray.

You also have the STR Debuff single and AE spells, but they give so few aggro... that you'll have to be really careful. You can cast your rune spell (Steelskin). Rune works on a way that it does x2 the aggro for the value it Runes. The good thing about it is that, like heal aggro, if you cast, lets say, a 80 rune and you have 1313123 aggroed mobs, you u'll get 160 aggro on all of them.

X2 wizards, x2 enchanters, are really all you need. Druid or cleric for outside heals, I like the druid for regen personally, but I end up with both cause well, rez lol.

I always have a mage or druid for the first few levels.

The first levels standard ds PL, kurns tower to 20 if you like, but xp hands down to start.. Sol Eye is the place to be, you can do 18 to 45 there easily! Pull the left side basically where the predator spawns down too efreeti guy area. Few pulls you'll be 30, then swap over to the right side, the entire right side.

Then start you ae mez and ae down the mobs. Two wizards in group x4 plee's. I ended up adding a third wizard down the road, was just faster killing. Two does work, but I like a little bit of overkill.

Also, keep in mind what type of zone you're in, so Sol Eye heavy fire resist, so magic sure using magic AE's only.

I normally just go too Sol A or B (I cannot remember which one it is) up at the efreeti camp, and repeat lvl 45 to 50 mobs. These mobs tend to have more hp, but the bonus in this zone is great.

Honestly, the best thing you want, as im sure you know. Mass mobs and low hp, but respawns are always long at the start of TLP's or it feels that way killing mass mobs.

Of course once Lucilin comes out Velks is the place to be!

Best of Luck on the PL.

2 enchanters ! You are weak
Just get ONE with an Ogre illusion (Shrinked), put his ass in a corner (face to mobs). He wont get stun from front (Ogre) & he will not be interupted by beeing moved due to mobs push as he got his cheeks stuck in the corner. In sebilis, i was the chanter, 1 bard pull 1st wing, come to camp & i keep them all under shower of AE stun. then the bard pull next wing, etc... Only 1 kill per 15-20 minutes, but we cleared almost the zone in one shot.

Are you really sure that ogre illusion give frontal stun immunity? You are not getting interrupted by push because you are aon a corner (as you already have said), but… frontal stun immunity? If that is real, which I have always been told like no, ppl would go everywhere with ogre illu pots :P

As far as I know, the only trick that works regarding humanoid race illusions is the use of combat skills like slam, for example, a barbarian enchanter will have slam and be able to proc rogue/ranger synergy with its slam.

If you want your entire guild to be able to interrupt a mob, you pop an ogre banner so everybody has access to slam and then just /autoskill slam.

Enchanter do not need illusion potions, they do there job by themself with there illusion spells. ;-).
I can not be 100% sure than Ogre illusion give immunity versus stun from front. If you use Barbarian illu, your enc got Slam ability, so i was using Ogre illu for the Stun immunity. In worst case, it work, better than not use Ogre illusion. In raid i was using Barabrian for try to stune a mob who cast a CH or gate (old ToV).
