help with mq2

hello all, i'm sorta back to play eq from my break (about 2yrs ago). anyway, i looked all over and didnt see this question asked so hopefully i'm not reposting but i've downloaded the newest compile today and when i click on the macroquest.exe file, it says it expects me to have a newer windows version...i currently run windows me and cant really afford to get it upgraded..mq2 has always worked for me in the past but now it wont since my windows os isnt up to date.....is it possible it could be remade for windows me too? i'd be so grateful if it were possible...thanks for looking! =)

cant you right click on MacroQuest2.exe > Properties pick "Compatibility" then "Compatibility mode" and mark "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and in the drop box pick "Windows 98/Me" ?

If it was compiled using VS2008 it won't work with 98 for sure, not sure about ME though. You might have to have someone compile it using VS2005 or upgrade to at least XP.

Macroquest2.exe is already included when you get the source files. I don't think it has anything to do with VS2k8, unless that's what they use over at Macroquest2.com. If that's the case, then I have no clue how to help you out.

Not a great suggestion but go to http://thepiratebay.org and find an xp sp2 torrent with cd key. You wont get any windows updates but you can download sp3 redistributable for it without authentication.

I have been using 7 since beta, works great 3 boxing. Best of all is free for now

Will Windows 7 install over XP? Or do you need Vista first to "upgrade"?

i'm not able to use the windows 7. i dont meet the requirements for it. as for the other site, when i download these torrents, its just a page or whatnot and i have to choose a program to open it with....

You can install over vista you cannot install over xp. Also you cannot upgrade from beta too RC1 without removal and re-install.

On a side note: You must install your apps in windows 7 you cannot copy them from one machine too another and expect it too work like in xp. I havent found a good work around yet...I havent looked hard though either

i just let install it as second OS so now i have dual boot. if i need to do some work i go xp where all progs are, but for EQ win 7 works much better for me
