Good morning. KissAssist / MQNext not working the way I would like and I wonder if it's the way I do it. My tank & bard are having issues engaging the mobs and it started within the last month or so. Here is my group makeup:

Beastlord (mainstick, MQ2Melee unloaded)
Pally (Flagged as Tank) set to kissassist the bst (will target the bsts mob but won't run to mob to engage)
Bard set to kissassist bst (will target the bsts mob but won't run to mob to engage, but will mez as needed if on)
Druid set to kissassist bst (snares / heals fine, won't cure even though kissassist is set to on and pure blood is loaded)
Mage set to kissassist bst (malo's & pet attacks fine)

/chase does not work so I have the EQBCS follow me button used.

Prior to the last month or 2, the pally and bard would run to engage the mobs, now its hit or miss if they will move to engage. Is it because of the way they are set to assist the non tank? I do not have an MA set in EQ Group roles.

I believe that /chase will chase the main tank when using main assist. I'm curious why you are trying to drive the group with the beastlord instead of the paladin? I'm sure it could work... someone with more experience might have to let you know what settings to check off.

The bst has always been toon I run, the one I raid with. I used to only run bst/drd combo but now I run 5 so was looking to software to help, but not do it all for me. I was thinking of trying to mainstick the pally while just grinding to see if that changes the things were everyone assist the tank, instead of my current way.

Are they failing at every camp? Or just a certain one?

If you start the paly in Tank mode instead of Assist will it move and grab targets that make it to camp?
It used to, now its random whether the pally or bard will actually move to engage. I pull with my bst, that is why they are set to /mac kissassist the bst. If they don't move to engage, they just stand there with the attack activated and I get the target too far away message. Same results if static camp or dungeon crawl.

My guess is life would be easier if you pulled, tanked and MA’d the Pally. Plus using “follow me” while fighting creates issues. Put your guys in chase mode or in camp mode. Check out Sic’s hot buttons to ensure you have things set up correctly. Last post your ini files for the BL and Pally so we can better assist.

meshes working?

I believe the meshes work correctly as the toons go where I want them too when I click on the map.

When you say set a MA, is that in EQ on the group role or the macro?

It is kind of both. You need to assign a role in KissAssist using one of these:

Role Values - Use the following list to determine and define your default role.

  • Role=Assist - Default role of assisting Main Tank on mobs.
  • Role=Tank - Sets up tanking feature and will target and attack any aggressive mob that comes into defined melee range. Target (or declare) yourself as MA.
  • Role=PetTank - This role allows for a pet class (Mage/Necromancer/Beastlord) to 'have their pet tank'.
  • Role=PullerPetTank - This role allows for a pet class (Mage/Necromancer/Beastlord) to BOTH 'pull and have their pet tank'.
  • Role=Puller - This role basically duplicates the oldie but goldie puller.mac. It will pull mobs within a certain radius back to camp for your party to kill. Target Main Assist for this role.
  • Role=PullerTank - This role combines pulling and tanking. The character will pull mobs back to camp then engage them when within defined melee distance. Target your self for Main Assist with this role.
  • Role=Hunter - This role duplicates the old hunter mac. It will run your character around a zone and hunt any or predefined mobs with the pull radius. Target yourself for Main Assist with this role. ** This setting will ignore any Mob HP % you may have defined in your DPS section in the .ini **
  • Role=HunterPetTank - This role duplicates the old hunter mac. This role allows for a pet class (Mage/Necromancer/Beastlord) to 'have their pet tank'. It will run your character around a zone and hunt any or predefined mobs with the pull radius.
  • Role=Petassist - This is mainly for Pallys, Rangers, Beastlords and SKs asssiting Mage pets tanking . It turns off melee so they just send in pets and cast.

And then in the Melee section you give input on how to assist (Bard example):

[Melee]
MeleeTwistOn=1
MeleeTwistWhat=1 2 3 4 5 6 7 12
AssistAt=99
MeleeOn=1
MeleeDistance=75
StickHow=snaproll rear
UseMQ2Melee=1
FaceMobOn=1
AutoFireOn=0
TargetSwitchingOn=0

and then in the EQ game, you need to assign the role of MA to whichever group member is the MA (in your case, it sounds like it is your Beastlord).
