Does anyone else have issues with Narandi and the 'ice at the feet decal' completely washing out making it impossible to see which Narandi it is on?

I have this occur probably 2 in 5 times i do this, and its now really annoying.

This event is trivial, until you get to this stage, and trivial when the decal shows properly.

Trying to figure out if this might be UI related

Sounds UI related, however if you fight him on the snow sometimes the blue rings aren't seen correctly. I've followed the advice of others and pull him to the river and fight there on the ice.

Set up group on the ice river and he will path to you. Use an AE Aggro lock when the 4 giants spawn so that they do NOT bunch up on each other. On my SK I use Contempt. If you let them stack up you will probably die!

Use F9 to get the high elevation camera view point. Rotate and adjust so you can plainly see your target but also an adjacent giant. This is so you can easily click on another giant if your first target displays the decal. Re-assist on the new target. Rotate your camera view once again to be able to click on the next giant in the ring if necessary. You might have to do this one more time if your luck is bad.

Third person view is a must. I found it easier to see the rings when fighting on a hill as they stick out of the hill.

Yeah, i do all as above, i'll see if i can get a screenshot of what happens when i do it next

I used to fight them on the flat ground next too where he spawns, but as many said, use the mq2camera plugin to be able to zoom out a lot more, you ll see the aura a lot more.
The main thing is, like @B_I_G__D_A_D_D_Y said, to avoid to get them stacked or you won't be able to see which one has the aura.

Echoing the "fight at river" suggestion.

I also manage my xtarget slots to keep them sorted. So when a fake reveals itself, I manually assign current target to XT slot 10 (can be any number, but I go for higher numbered slots so the autohaters go to the lower number. With the first fake assigned to XT 10, I select the next auto hater and dps it down until it either reveals itself, in which case, I put fake #2 on XT slot 11, or turns out to be the real Narandi. If you have 2 fakes on XT 10 and 11, select 1 of the 2 remaining autohaters. Take it down and either assign fake #3 to XT 12 or kill it. If you get 3 fakes on XT slots 10, 11 and 12, the last one is the real one. There are also emotes when the blue decals appear, so you can do this completely by emote and xtarget slots without even looking at the giants. I pause macro on all DPS characters during this phase so that only the tank is doing damage. I found it too hard to control them switching targets at the right time or leaving dots and pets on the wrong mob. They are weak mobs, not hard to tank and heal with a single healer.

I ran this for the first time yesterday and had a similar experience. I knocked down one giant and got the aura. Moved on to the second one but the first one was so close to him that it was hard to tell if I was just seeing the first aura or if the second one had it. I decided that it was just overlap and kept killing the second and lucked out that it was the right one.

On a side note, since this was my first time fighting these guys, I totally spaced out the first time they split and didnt pay attention to the aura and ended up getting my tank DT'd. Cleric quickly rezzed him so I didnt wipe or anything. The interesting part was, on subsequent splits, he no longer split to 4 but only 3. Is this normal? Made it easier as I only had to deal with the 3 instead of 4 on the last 2 splits.

Sounds like a bug. If you do eat a DT, there is a ground spawn that you can pickup and click to auto-kill one of the fakes.

As for aura tracking, there are also emotes to the Event Messages filter when a new aura is revealed. You also want to slow your dps so that the first aura fades completely before the next one spawns.

Since i posted this, it hasnt happened. I did however modify the way i did this part a little too.

I move my group to river and stop everyone except cleric
I drop DS's and equip a non-damage primary.

Part of my issue may have been 2 Narandi's tipping over at the same time, that doesnt happen now.
I just nuke with SK until i find right one, then engage melee toons manually

It takes a bit longer, but i havent had to do a wipe recovery in the last week

All the plugin/macros should have a backoff command.
Easier to just back everyone off, dps down with sk, then allow everyone to dps again.

I allow my cleric to still DPS :P rest of group backs off.

If you want to get real slick, you can add an mq2events entry to pause the dps characters when he splits and another to turn them back on when he reforms.

I always tank him at the top of the hill if I can, if not I drag him to the river. One thing I do is stand almost on top of him so when he splits they don't stack and I can just rotate around till I get the correct one. I haven't tried the Xtarget method yet.

this is my preferred method too - but interesting about the xtarget

Very nice idea, will try and see if i can do it

I just made a key to pause/unpause everyone but the cleric and enchanter or shaman (whichever I'm using at the time), but that sounds infinitely more interesting. Trying to figure out events myself. I'm tired of doing things like Kael by tabbing to the correct window, pausing to duck or unequip, and unpausing then tabbing back to the main window. I'm pretty good at it but it stresses me out lol
