Problem - Gems stuck darkened out.....macro stops responding

So I have been running my SK and about 30-40 minutes in it will go to mem a spell and all my gems will go dark and not refresh. At that point the mecro stops responding (wont pick up adds, pull etc) and the only way to reset the spell gems is for me to camp out and back in. Is there a fix for this? Anyone else have this issue?

That doesn't sound like a macro issue. not sure what macro you are using, but getting a debug log would be the first step.
 
its an old bug, could not find the link but as I recall it was caused by either a misspelling in the spells section (buffs/dps/burn... etc) or calling on an item or spell that you no longer have.

Either way, a LOG would show that....
 
Cast purity of death or some aa that has a cast time and it will unstick the gems. It's a bug in eq not MQ2.
My version of kiss has a setting for it where u can get it to unstick when it happens. Check the ini for it search for stuck in general section.
 
No, but if you ar going to fix it for official kiss, I suggest u just simply copy the code from my version.

That's what I was thinking. I remember having this issue with the bard code. If you test for ${Me.Casting.ID} and the !${Window[CastingWindow].Open} is NOT open. then doing a /stopcast or an /interrupt. I don't like the idea of having to wait 20 seconds not being able to cast, but that may be the only solution. Never hurts to try and find a better way.

Is anyone able to reproduce this? I am not able to reproduce this so I can do some testing.
 
/stopcast will NOT clear the gems, or I would have done that instead. I spent weeks before I finally figured out that only a aa with a recast time will unstick it since it happens so rarely and it can't be reproduced, but sure, reinvent the wheel... in the end you will come to the same conclusion and just implement the same fix anyway.

The only way to "reproduce" it is to wait days/weeks until it happens and then be there at the computer and at that point attach a debugger and then set breakpoints and finally understand that it's stuck in it's own loop and then cast a aa with a recast time, which will unstick it. /endmacro or /stopcast or any other command won't work, it is a eq bug it's not MQ2 related at all.

ok so to be clear, Mule your fix is to fire off any AA with a cast timer? I can certainly try that the next time. It has only happened like 3 times to me in the last year. So it is RARE. Last time Maskoi helped me fix it without knowing he did. Thanks Kisscheck!
 
Well if casting an AA fixes the issue. I wonder if casting something like origin or the AA gate spell and waiting for the ${Window[CastingWindow].Open} and then doing a /stopcast would do the same thing? Has that been tried.
 
Everything has been tried the only thing that works is a aa with a recast, but I didn't do a stopcast in the middle of it since it's instant and I didn't want to wait a month for another test. For now I'm happy to waste a purity of death to get my crew to continue instead of letting them stay stuck. My sk who is the puller is the one it happens on, and he won't do anything until he is unstick...

If u can successfully do a stopcast after u do a purity of death, well that would "maybe" reset the timer as well and get the gems unstuck at the same time but I doubt it can be done fast enough, even from a macro.
Origin has a longer cast time so that might be worth a try, but I couldn't get any aa with a cast time to work.

I would say the requirement to get "unstick" is a instant cast aa (like FD or purity of death) with a recast timer.
 
Everytime this has happened to me it's been due to lag. Either on my side of things or the game side.
 
I rebooted my machine, reset modem and router and so far no issues with locked up spells since. Seems like a lag issue like client and server fell out of step and there isnt a check on client to verify ready.
 
I've had this issue a couple times where spell gems stayed darkened and not refresh. For me, both times it was because my computers date/time was off and setting it to the correct time fixed the problem.

Issue I had before, affected evert single character on my computer. But I have also had it where only my SK gets it and was thinking it had to do with his ini, but I don't use my SK much and was usually able to get him going again by randomly trying to cast something. Never seen any other class do this.

I just ran into this issue on one of my SHD pullers.
I got it unstuck with trial and error and was just coming here to search to see if anyone solved before I hacked it into KISS.
You sir are my best friend right now :)
 
i know, no one believes me, but i had this issue too in the past, thought it was my custom ui, so i did an awesome redesign of the spell casting.xml i was using, and now i havetn had this issue for like a year.
