based upon the cia world factbook's demographics for the US. there are approx 24.7% age 0-19. Based upon the population clock the US is at 305,861,785 people atm. assuming close to 23% are 0-17 we'd end up with a population of approx 235,513,575 people 18+ that could get a check. Giving everybody the check instead of the states would end up being around $3341.63 per person.
I'm fairly sure that the amount of free spending from a check of that stature to everybody would jumpstart the economy simply because of the profits the companies get, the need to hire more people because of the increase of purchases, the people currently having warnings of foreclosures could pay up as well as possibly even level out to where they could keep paying every month. It would probably work better imho, but I guess we'll never really know.
