Has anybody done this raid at all recently? Trying to figure out if I keep working at it with my 12 box t2 tol raid gear or if I should suck it up and add another 6 Even if only Free plat COV? I‘ve been able to get the raid down to 30% but struggling past that point. I’m almost positive 6it more (and I’d go pure DPS 3 rog, bst, brd, shaman) would put it over top because dps would be high enough For sure.

Probably should suck it up, no downside to having a 3rd group out there. But decided I should work on this progression for the guild talendor trophy.

This fight doesnt even really start till 30% but here is my mq2event for this raid. No Lua because this raid was before Lua existed and it works perfectly so i never changed it.

Code:
[Cactii]
trigger=#*#My spines will find a target,#1#
command=/if (${EventArg1.Find[${Me.CleanName}]}) /multiline ; /docommand /boxr pause; /rsay Running Away; /timed 5 /nav wp AE; /timed 125 /docommand /boxr unpause

So just create a Waypoint called AE away from the raid. When he does the emote - that toon runs away.
I would think that 12 TOL Raid geared people would be ok to do this - but just in case - id add another 42 toons Because why not?

I did this raid for kicks with my new 36 man and it was a breeze. I ignored everything and just went DPS mode with it. At lvl 120 and 36 toons, was a pretty fun event.

I did switch over to kills adds as they popped however, dont forget that part.

I did the event last year with two groups of mostly group geared characters. Most had raid weapons though. I also run healer heavy which helps.

You WILL have to do the emotes. I had macro stuff setup to run people away , and another to toggle attack on / off based on the reflective DS buff. Its VERY easy to kill yourself on that event.

i did not do emotes and i still won.

I believe its a AE silence and and AE DD or some sort

I expect with 36 you'd have a lot more DPS. Would make a huge difference in keeping up with adds.

The AE's would be mostly trivial now with respect to damage.

I take it you don't have any issues with the reflected damage killing your high DPS characters? Seems like our monks, zerkers, rogues would kill themselves with in 1-2s if they were burning at the wrong time.

I run it for coins regularly with 18, and ignore most of the mechanics. Clear the area around where you are planting the scion, designate one tank as MT, and have a shm/clr on him as raid assist. Others follow MA and bounce between killing adds and back to boss.

Easy to cheese with 18, im sure its harder with 12 but not impossible.

Chars in endowed mostly when i started, easier now in spectral/coag.

Oh i know some died because of that, but i kept on DPS. id say top 5 died and some 2x times, but overall wasnt too bad. I didnt keep count or anything

I've done it with 18 a few times. My strategy was have my MT on the boss and a group of ranged dps set to assist him. I had maybe 4 necro's and a ranger or 2 and a couple mages all set to assist the boss MT. Then just had all my melee dps set to assist my add tank and be sure to kill them in the proper order(pitiful succulent, a surreal succulent, a spiteful succulent then the burgeoning) so I didn't get too many at once. I burned from the start but could probably hold off and burn at like 35% to try to get through that harder, final 30%. I didn't move away on the big aura/AE thing and I just killed the renegades or let them explode and heal through it instead of trying to pull them away. I did have a couple deaths every attempt though but otherwise it went pretty smooth.
I could see it being pretty rough with only 12.

Wow go away for 1 day of work and come back to so many helpful answers. Sincerely thank you all for the good advice.

Thank you. going to give this a try. I really don’t feel like going to 18 if I can avoid it (emotes are definitely the issue at the the 30%). GOing to give it a shot before add a 6 group dps setup.

I think at 12 I have to do emotes I agree. At 18 pretty sure i could power through it all.

This was super helpful. I feel like I could do it at 12 but it’s tight. 18 probably np especially if I go a pure dps Group like 3 rog, brd, bst, shaman. Have a feeling it would be a breeze. Although this group would be limited to tier 2 TOV raid gear. Still not horrible (Unless I eat more xpac spend (who knows maybe I would).

At 12 the blocker has been the final 30%. I just tanked everything at raid for first 70%. Not a real issue. but the final 30% is tough and I don’t have much burn (I think I need to shut it off and save for the final 30%).

That said another 6 - pure dps group - in raid gear probaly would make this easy - or so I think.
