Question - eqgame.exe won't launch from MacroQuest

It was working fine a few days ago, I had to reinstall everything and now it's not working.

I can get MacroQuest to work, and if I manually launch eqgame.exe everything works fine. The AutoLogin Status menu will popup and I can then use it to log into any of my characters.

The problem is I can't launch the EQ client from MacroQuest. If I try to click the character name or click "Launch Without Login" nothing happens. No crash, and there's no log.

This is happening with both the RedGuides version of MQ and the github version, so I don't think it has anything to do with any settings inside MacroQuest. I also tried turning on/off "Run as Administrator" for both MQ and eqgame and those don't help.

Did you check your game profiles and make sure its pointed at the right exe?

you shouldn't run anything as admin - there is not only no reason to do so, but you're using random "hacking" software "trustmebro" - don't give that access to everything on your pc.

I had an issue like that recently that was the result of a port conflict causing a silent crash when MQ tried to launch.

before trying to see if that is your issue:

- edit: check what derple suggested first as that sounds really likely

- reboot your pc
- check that you don't have anything held in quarantine by your antivirus
- if you did, clear that, consider whitelisting mq/eq/rg folders/sub-folders and try again

I moved all the EQ/MQ files to C:\Games\ and now it's working, I think it was some random permission issue within windows.

Also just to clarify it was working randomly yesterday and stopped working this morning. I swear I did nothing to get it to work and nothing to make it stop working. Hopefully this is an actual fix but I suspect it might stop working again, who knows....
