Question - EQ Mac Client Issues

Update: I have resolved all of these issues. Read below for the fixes.

Hey,

My EQMac client has the following issues (I'm not using any third party programs, just a patched client):

-Theme music endlessly loops after loading
Solution - This bug only exists for me if NEWUI=FALSE is selected in the eqclient.ini, change to TRUE
-The vertical mouselook is probably 4x the speed of the horizontal mouse look
Solution - Install http://exkode.com/dxtory-downloads-en.html, run the program and select from the advanced tab "Limit Video FPS" at 60. You'll need to keep this program running in the background. You can disable the FPS counter by toggling it off from the Overlay tab. (big thanks to dannuic)
-I can't load any custom UIs
Solution - You must TYPE "/load YOURUINAMEHERE 1" the trailing 1 is required for it to work. I was able to load a EQMac UI no problem doing this, but the red XML nag text still appears on login.

I hope this helps someone in the future.

what version are u using? 2.1 is the one where bazaar search works.

what operating system? gfx card? memory and x64 or 32 bit?

Hey eqmule,

I downloaded the latest version you released, but I will confirm the bazaar is working tonight when I get home from work.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate
AMD Radeon HD 6570
8 GB of Memory
And it's a x64

Thanks for any ideas.

Thanks! I will check this out. That issue was definitely the biggest pain point for me.

If anyone has ideas on the others I'd still appreciate them.

Could always just turn the music off as a temp fix, I don't think I've ever played EQ with sound/music on drives me mad although I'm like that with all games :S

Edit: cant seem to get custom UIs to load either.

I've seen at least one custom ui for eqmac (someone's screenshot, so I don't know the name of it), you can't just use the newer ones cause they contain XML code that isn't compatible... I would try googling for eqmac ui and see what others got working. I've modified a few EQUI files and the modifications work, so I know it's absolutely possible to use a custom ui, just a matter of carefully crafting it...

If you are using a UI that's supposed to work and still getting the nag its probably the bug report window. To play EQMac on PC you are using a modified Titanium install and the bug window never gets properly patched. If the nag bothers you you can pull the default EQ Bug window out of your Live directory and drop it in your EQMac default ui folder it should take care of the nag. You actually shouldn't still be getting a nag with a properly installed Power of Two installation because P2 repurposes this window as I recall. But if you're like me and the nag drives you nuts, you can further confirm which window is causing it by checking the UIErrors.txt in the main EQ folder.
