with the test server being off limits for the extended period of time i have been looking at other options. first i made some ftp toons on fv to migrate to the new macroquest(which is really nice btw). that lasted a few days and i got bored.

i than went back to test and alt tabbed some quests and TS and epics on some toons (from my 24 box crew) that needed individual attn, again now im bored.

so here i sit bored at work (graveyard shifts) and i was reading these awesome forums and thought hmmm i wonder what an emulator is like

first: are their MQ friendly emulators? and if so are there specific rules? i haven't done a lot of looking into this yet and thought maybe i might get pointed in a good direction in regard to choosing one.

second: after 4 years of TLP i really don't wanna play the "classic" era of eq ... i'm hoping for something that might go to at least HoT era? (level 85 maybe higher)

trying to keep busy in my free time while i eagerly await playing my box crew on test server again. any info or opinions are more than welcomed! thanks!

in the meantime ill do some more reading in this forum section =)

There are MQ friendly emulators, some don't care how many you box, others limit it to two or three. Some have rules about what you can or can't automate like pulling. Some don't want MQ at all.

EMU content just goes as far as OoW so you won't be able to do HoT content onward, even though the zones are available to RoF they aren't populated.

It's a mixed bag with boxing and MQ use on each server. The "legit" servers only really go up to Omens. It sounds like that's not something you want to do. I'd suggest looking at some of the custom servers and working your way through the ones that look good. If you go to the main eqemu webpage and look at the server list they can give you some detail about MQ usage, IP limits, how the server is setup.

Given the fact that you 24 box and haven't really played emu yet I'd highly suggest doing The Hidden Forest. Population is not going to be the best but you don't need economy on there. With 24 boxing you'd be capable of doing all the content, so it'd just be a matter of working through it. Up until the latter tiers it's pretty run of the mill but fights do become more complex with scripts after T7/8. If you want to cut down to 6 Enine's is a good choice, even cutting it further to just 2 boxing with no MQ maybe try Imperium. The good part about the custom servers is even if you play on a "finished" one that is not rolling out content and complete what's available you can just move onto another, since you haven't tried any of them they'll all feel relatively fresh to you in one manner or another.

I have an entire playthrough of "mock" TLP like stuff on my youtube channel doing 54x multiboxing on EQEMU. I also have videos on how to set it up and what not. on EMU its an older MQ with e3. I was able to get RG to work but some wonky stuff happens with some plugins. Typically the EMU is Classic to Omens content(Epics2 and anguish), so I prefer to do it on my own server because of the lack of instances. I found on PEQ all the mobs were dead because everyone multiboxes. At the time they didn't have any agents of change or anything like that. Last night on a stream someone mentioned a EMU that has some secrets of faydwer level stuff with some custom bot code, Inferious or something like that. Let me know if you have any questions, I spent 2-3 years messing with EMU before moving back to live.

nice thanks all for the info! ill look into it as i have spare time while test is under repair cheers!

I've been playing a bit on Wayfarer's Haven (P2002) and I'm liking it pretty well. They don't allow MQ2 at all but they do allow 3 boxing. I tried PEQ out and overall, it was a bad experience. The population is actually quite a bit lower than it claims due to them not having a limit on how many boxes you can run. While they do allow MQ2 (which is a huge bonus imo), them not capping the amount of boxes you can run ruins it.

It's been my experience that most of the EMU servers are rather full of old timers that hand out goodies like candy on Halloween. Many are way too nice, it boarders on creepy. But if you are looking for that sort of thing...

Personally, I enjoy the grind... The feeling of accomplishment, even if it is just a time sink. Call me crazy.

But most of the EMU servers have taken great pains to remove that. To the point nothing accomplished FEELS fun. Or maybe it's just me.

On the flip side, the p99 servers are hard core, no quality of life, slug fests that get tiresome for me fast. So I guess there is a happy medium somewhere between, that the TLP servers have done a good job of capturing.

Too bad, none of the EMU servers I've seen have embraced that thinking.
