This is very strange.
It only happens in ONE ZONE (that I've found). It is repeatable and consistent.

Zone: The Buried Sea (in TBS)

When MQ2Map is active, click on any chatwindow. No cursor appears, and the text disappears. Can't do anything.

Click on the map. Text reappears and everything normal.

With no map present, everything is ok.

This does not happen in other zones.

Here's my Macroquest.ini:

Very strange.

There is more than just that going on.

Have you noticed parts of the map disappearing? As the map files get larger and larger, mq2map has more and more issues. I don't know if there is a memory cap or what.. but ever since TSS there has been strange shit with the maps.

For some reason the maps cant handle every targets that been introduced since TSS. Devestation is most common for this to happen cause the tents have thier own target same with Walls and traps and everything.

It's not just happening in buried sea. It was there that I discovered it, but it is happening in almost all TBS zones. I've done numerous different missions, various zones killing for fun and xp grinding. It happens in pretty much every TBS zone I go in. It's annoying as hell too LOL.

New MQ2 code just posted with a fix for targetting in mq2map. Don't know if it has anything to do with any of this though.

Is there a way to reduce lag between player and server? I believe my map is updating on par with how quick my computer is recieving the information (i.e. mob placement from elsewhere in the zone) but it doesn't seem like I'm getting that info quick enough and if I warp to a target somewhere I sometimes end up at a completely different spot that the target was at a while ago possibly.

i had the samething happen in katta but when i mapfilter npc to hide it stops doing it

ive also noticed on my comp anyways the PC's kinda flash like they are being updated or something. Mostly when they move. Or i move. anyone else get the same thing?

This is a well known issue and it has nothing to do with lag. The way the game works is it sends the information of where things are in the zone to the client (you). Since there are usually ALOT of mobs in any given zone, the server does not send updated information about mob locations until the character you are on gets closer. Since the game assumes you are not cheating, only the mobs that are close to you need to be rendered and therefore those are the only ones you'd need updated location information on. This is why mobs that are a greater distance from you seem to "hop" around a bit (this includes PC's as well) but the ones closer to you seem to move seemlessly.

Sometimes when you first target a mob at a distance from you using the map, if you give it a few seconds it might update the location from the server. But if you target and warp right way, you may end up at the location the mob was at according to the last update your client recieved. All MQ2 does is sniff the data from the server and use it to render more information on your map, so it is subject to what is coming from the server.

At least this is my understanding of it. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Ive had this happen before tbs. and now in tbs again. i thought it was a graphics bug before though and still think it is.

you can also zoom in/out of map and that text/cursor and map will all work correctly again.

Here is what is going on.

TBS zones have upwards of 900 npcs, maps with lots of lines and points. The client will not draw all those points and lines so instead it filters out until you zoom out. There is in a way a hard coded limit to how much the EQ client can draw or will draw. Notice when you zoom in (and have less lines displayed) everything starts working again. Or if you completly close out your map chat windows start working again.

This is not a bug with any plugin or MQ2 but is augemented because MQ2Map is drawing extra points on the map per mob. This will be difficult to fix as this problem is mainly with the EQ client and is only a problem with MQ2 users so far as I've heard.

Don't expect any EQ dev time spent on this in the near future, there may be a plugin to up the ammount of lines possible to draw but I wouldn't bank on that either, for the time being close your map or filter out npc's you don't care much for.
