So, I updated RGMercs Lua yesterday while in game (shut it down on my bard, updated and restarted). Moved to a new zone to hunt augments (ones with lots of buildings, instead of open hilly terrain). The bard was having trouble remembering to go back to camp after tagging the mob (had the bard on chain pull). I figured it was the change in environment and buildings, so had another toon pull (cwtn). Was fine, then went to bed turning everything off.

This morning, after loading everything up from a cold boot, the bard is going spastic in the guild hall. Memming spells and casting. Okay I had more spells loaded then gems, hasn't been a problem before. Removed spells down to 11/13. The bard stopped exercising but was trying to cast a lot. The bard kept trying to cast "Aura of Tenisbre Rank 2." And getting the message "You do not have sufficient focus to maintain that ability." Pulled up the aura window and saw "Aura of Tenisbre effect 1." Clicked it off and bard was able to cast, then kept trying to cast. Logged out. Yep, still gold account.

This might be an EQ bug with the effect 1 aura, but why would it start on a Sunday? Also, not sure if this affected the pulling ability of the bard yesterday after I updated.

I tried to turn on the regen aura (Aura of Shadowain R2) from the Use Bard Aura drop down. The toon started meming it then would mem the DPS aura, in a cycle. I clicked Reload Spell Loadout and it would still show the DPS aura for the MainAriaSong. I also clicked off the DPS aura and the Regen aura was able to land (showing the same effect 1). But the bard was still trying to cast the DPS aura.

I tried to turn off all auras, by setting the drop down to NONE. It stopped trying to mem and cast the REGEN aura but was still trying to cast the DPS aura.

This was the second issue I found, unable to change auras.

If there is a spell mem caught in the queue the aura may not switch right away.

Barring that, I'll look into the issues unless someone beats me to it, thanks.

I've had a chance to test...

I'm using a 120 bard but I am unable to duplicate any of these issues, the bard switches between auras seemlessly (so long as I clikc the old aura off in the window so as to not get the focus message in between swaps).

still show the DPS aura for the MainAriaSong
This sounds to me like you may be conflating Aura and Aria?

I am not clear on any of this unfortunately, are you saying that RGMercs starting memorizing more songs than it had previously, and you didn't change any options that would lead it to do so? I am unclear as to why you would be manually removing songs.

I clicked Reload Spell Loadout
While this may seem like a good idea, swapping the aura options already triggers a loadout change, which amounts to the same thing and when done rapidly it can really bog things down and cause some conflicting actions to occur.

My theory on this is likely that you paused automation while your dps aura was memorized and this caused the dps aura to become the new "default" gem for that slot as far as the automation was concerned. So when the regen aura was cast and wouldn't stick (because you still had an aura active), the automation placed the old gem back in the slot, as it is programmed to do. In this case, unfortunately, doing a spell loadout check every time you unpaused would be disastrous to automation, so it is best not to manually adjust spells while paused (unless you are purposefully taking advantage of this "feature", which I actually do upon occasion).

Overall, I guess I would like to ask if you are still having issues, and if so, I can attempt to assist in resolving them. Please note that RGL isn't set up to remove auras, but perhaps we can consider if it was feasible to implement.

I noticed on my lvl 120 FTP bard with 12 buffgems, it shows 13 gems in the Spell Loadout.
This is definitely something to look into, we should have a look it. There have been some previous issues and adjustments to the bard mem system.
Edit: I think I may see the issue. In light of the above issue if RGL was trying to use 14 gems then maybe some weirdness occured, I'll push a PR to fix and we can go from there.

It looks like I was conflating the names.

The first thing that brought my attention to the problem was that the toon was constantly memming spells. As I noticed the note whenever I load that the spell gems equal the loadout, I first started removing options for the loadout to bring it below the gem count. This worked to stop the constantly memming spells. But I think this was just a symptom of the issue and not the issue.

When it first started to happen I did pause to make it stop and try and figure out what was happening. Later in my tests, from logging in from the character select I did not pause. The log I attached it from loading from character select, so it shows all the modules unloading and loading.

I found it was having a problem with the DPS aura, so I changed it to the Regen aura, and still had the same problem. When changing to NONE, it might have caused what you are suggesting and bogged down the system.

Overall, I guess I would like to ask if you are still having issues, and if so, I can attempt to assist in resolving them. Please note that RGL isn't set up to remove auras, but perhaps we can consider if it was feasible to implement.

I can test more later tonight when I get home.

But one thing not mentioned is the ranking of the aura, which you can't see on a 120 toon for a level 125 and 122 auras (I don't know if the lower spells have the same issue). The gold account toon was casting rank 2 auras, with rank 1 effects landing.

repeat ad nauseam

Meanwhile You do not have sufficient focus to maintain that ability. was filling up my chat window. <-- This did not happen before the patch.

More to come.

The Aura window will show the number 1 because it is your first aura, not because it is rank 1. Edit: You can see the "Rk. II" if you resize, most likely!

I'm taking a second look now.

At this point I would prefer an fresh unadulterated test, but I see a potential issue. I am just unable to duplicate.

Edit: Sorry I've edited this a couple times as I've jumped the gun. Playing with things now. Just let me know how it turns out for you. Picture of your aura window (with name fully extended) may help as well if its happening!

I logged in. Auras were set to NONE from previous days. Nothing happened. Changed auras to DPS. It went through a whole loadout mess then started below. It seems to go back to this as it cycles through the songs. So when some songs fade it recasts them then goes back to this. I had to find the short buff window as I don't actually play with it.

I figured out the aura window thingie, by looking at my cleric.... There were columns. So, I expanded them.

That just leaves the trying to cast when it is "in effect."

Cheers for that, it appears they changed the naming convention on the latest expansion, rendering the check that is used completely invalid. I appreciate the time and images. I'll get a fix out now!
