So as the title says, brand new. I downloaded VV a while back and then stopped playing EQ for a bit.

I’m starting back up on the hidden forest and was curious if KissAssist works on that server or if anyone has any reccomendations outside of that for a super beginner to get familiar with VV and setting up a solid macro for rotf2 servers to ease my learning curve?

KissAssist works on THF - There are a lot of custom elements to that server, and I have not seen many resources posted, if any, on RG. Utilizing the wiki and learning as you go is likely the best bet. There is also a lot of relevant MQ info on the forums for THF. They have a specific section for Third-party programs with some good information to know.

The recommendation I would make, given you need 12-18 on THF, is to start with 6, do the beginning progression, build your comfort with building Kiss ini's, and then add more as your confidence grows. Starting with melee is generally more straightforward, as there is less editing, and it will make you focus on your healer ini to learn the caster side.

That’s exactly my plan. Start with 6, melee heavy cleric for heals. Maybe a shaman. I just couldn’t find anything mentioning it either here or on the THF third party section since it isn’t a super active forum. And I know here is way more active. Looking forward to jumping in to all this stuff and stoked to finally join up with the RG community. Everyone seems super helpful.

Make sure you look up large address aware and run that on your EQGame to prevent crashes is also good to do. It will save you a lot of headaches with crashes.

I would recommend War/Mnk/Rog/Shm/Clr/Brd as a starting 6 for THF. But, if you want to just focus on the one healer to setup, replacing the Shm is fine. You'll probably hit a wall at Emperor. But that will give you plenty of room to build some skills with movement, building ini's and whatnot.

Perfect, I plan on driving with a ranger so I’ll probably replace the rogue but I was curious about how a bard would work with cc.

Wanted to do a sk for a tank but I’ll probably forgo that for my first group for easing my learning curve. Really appreciate the input, since it was very custom server specific.

I never particularly felt the need for CC on THF. But, Kiss works fine for that. Just need to set it up in the Mez category.

Good to know. I only initially played solo class with a bit my first couple times messing around. This time I’m obviously trying to get in to some progression and raiding tier stuff because it’s always looked super fun.

I’ll fool with the cc stuff maybe to learn but I guess an in combat ooc buff bot seems easier than running a full chanter ini my first time around.

Good luck! THF is highly underrated, I think the only thing holding it back is that you need so many toons and other options like Lazarus are more approachable and familiar. But it's a great server with a lot of good content. Great way to sink a few months of time working through.
