Bug - Avoiding the Patcher entirely

I wasnt sure where exactly to put this but I figured I'd be good to write this down so people know how to avoid having to run the patcher every single time they log in. This is (or should be) common knowledge among EQ players but is often goes unknown or underutilized especially amongst newer players.

EQ Stores itself in a folder (in my case it's C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\, depending on when you installed and such it could be C:\Progarm Files\Everquest\ or C:\Program Files\Sony\Installed Games\Everquest\ or whever you put it if you manually selected where to put it... if that's the case you probably already know most of this crap).

1) Locate the EverQuest.exe file. This is the file that opens up the patcher in my case. Make a shortcut, put it on the desktop and label it something you know like for me I use 'Everquest Live (Patch)'.

2) Locate eqgame.exe file in the same folder. Create a shortcut and move it to the desktop and label it something you know like for me I use 'Everquest Live (NoPatch)' because I have a relative who plays on EQ Emulator servers and also have an 'EQ EMU' one as well.

3) Right click on the 'Everquest Live (NoPatch)'. Click 'shortcuts' tab. Look at Target and put double quotes (") around it then a single space and patchme (Example: "C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme). This will tell eqgame.exe to skip the patcher.

4) Enjoy not having to patch everytime you load up a new account or having Sony probing your machine everytime the patcher loads up.

Caveats:

You must remember the username/password combinations for your accounts because unlike the patcher it will not save this information and automatically log in for you. It will also not fill in things for you except I think the last account name.

To log in to a specific account, you can put /login:accountname after patchme. I don't know of a way to fill in the password automatically.

Nice write up AH and gold red cented. The eqlive and emu might be a little confusing to some so here is a distilled version

Use Patchme

Create a shortcut of your eqgame.exe from your EverQuest folder.
1. Right click the sortcut and select properties
2. In the Target window type patchme 1 word outside of the " " with 1 space
3. Hit Apply the OK

Rich (BB code):
"C:\Program Files\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme
Example of goldmund's post to login into a specific account IE bob
Rich (BB code):
"C:\Program Files\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme /login:bob

Further to this, you can setup a Free WinEQ2 account, and setup that service to skip the patcher, in doing this, you also get the benefits of EQplaynice (Frame limiting software) which enables your computer to run EQ smoother, as well as on a premium subscription, the ability for PIP (Picture in Picture), as well as automatic CPU Assignment, and Monitor Assignment.
