Take the posted kiss ranger ini. Make sure use range setting is on. Long as you are at a somewhat distance from the mob he will auto bow instead of melee. Range isn't very large, I believe it's what ever min bow range is but I could be wrong.

IMO dont use kiss to shot with ranger, set it to 0 also melee or it will hug the mob...the reason is, kiss dont use autofire of the ingame feature, it press the ranged attack every time he thinks its ok, and that sux a lot...dps will be shit without autofire...i already asked maskoi to change that but seems ranger isnt a popular class in redguides i dont think he will change that...

or u could use the ranged attack of macroquest, its not autofire either(cause it turns autofire off if u turn it on manually) but its way better than kiss...for that u will need some holies to check distance and tell him to melee or range..and sometimes kiss forces him to melee even if it has space for ranged attacks...

MQ2Melee's range function is borked.

Though I imagine with some thought you can come up with a holyshit to turn it on. There is a TLO for it Me.AutoFire

Entirely depends on what macro you are using and how you acquire targets, but off the top of my head you can start with

Rich (BB code):
holyshit10=/if (!${Me.AutoFire} && ${Me.GroupAssistTarget.ID}==${Target.ID} && ${Target.Distance}>30 && !${Me.Invis} && ${Target.PctHPs}<98) /autofire

and modify it to fit your playstyle/needs/macro. This is assuming your ranger is not the group's main assist, and you have some macro set up to acquire targets. For instance, at a guess, it ought to work with KA provided you turn melee off and KA's range attack off. Bear in mind though... this is just pulled out of my ass, I haven't tested this =P

I am sure others can add to it or suggest changes, if you have questions =)

In almost every instance, the dps output from meleeing will beat using a bow (that's even using the /autofire command and not KISS). The only time where that might not be the case is when you burn your bow disc. I recently sold a Skybarrage for this very reason... the times where I'd use the bow are so few and far between that it's not even worth having and I'd rather have the 25 or so kronos I got for it.

Does the bow not affect the physical spells they cast? Focused arrow(?) line of spells.

Hey Maskoi, will the dps routine recognize Ranged? No way for me to test it atm.

Set Mq2melee stick range really close so they don't stick but then;

Rich (BB code):
Dps1=Ranged|99|Mash

Autofire will not maximize DPS for a bow they way the hardcore parsers tell it.

It shouldn't have an impact. One way to test it is to unequip your arrow and your bow and then use the spells. I bet the damage output stays the same under those conditions. Obviously, crits and headshot/final blow type effects will spike your damage, but your bow/arrow selection should not.

Ok. I just always assumed it had an affect and tried to keep my ranger in the best bow I could get. Guess I can not worry about it as much.

If you look at the description of the physical line of spells on Lucy, it sets the damage amount (and the hit %). So the bow/arrow shouldn't matter.

So which is it? :)

I guess he is saying a human pressing ranged attack x autofire, not the pressing by kiss or mq2

I would think a macro pushing the button would in theory be faster?

A super fast macro would be faster yes but the dps would be like +0,1% in dif?? Also, he said hardcore parses, like ppl who freaks out and uses to get all dps u can from ur toon

This is interesting. I may play with this on the weekend.

I had a chance to screw with that last night. As Zeeeeee said it doesn't work like that, but it also doesn't spam me with any messages.

Currently just Turning Melee off and using 2 multiline hotkeys to turn AF / Assist on and off pending each battle.

What u using to turn /attack on?? i just need that i have others that i got in the forum for distance checks, i tried to make my own and didnt work : holyshit4=/if (${Me.Combat} && ${Target.Type.Equal[npc]} && ${Target.PctHPs}<99) /attack

and i know nothing about programing lol trying to figured it out and seeing the erros in game

I'm kinda busy at work and don't have the syntax off the top of my head, but I'd replace the "XXX" above with the check to make sure you're running kissassist (or whatever macro you use). Also, change "/attack" to "/autofire on". Additionally, unless you plan on using spells to get in combat, the ${Me.Combat} check would be less than useful because without spells or something else cast on the mob you'll never actually get in combat.

I hit mine manually because a holy flag needs to be in combat to activate. And if combat activates Kiss will not let the AF stay on as it wants to melee, not everytime but cant find a rhyme or reason to it deciding what one it wants.

The hotkeys have duplicates line for each Toon

First 2 hotkeys are to turn assist on and off so KA doesnt try to melee if I'm going to bow.

3rd hotkey is just a /moveto loc to be able to place them away from the group in tighter quarters

The AF is very basic but gets the job done as I am not AFK so hitting 1 key to bow all of them works fine.
Rich (BB code):
 /bct TOONNAME //multiline ; /assist ${Me.Name} ; /delay 5 ; /autofire on

With Kiss running, I get the "Auto Fire On" Message just like I would if i typed it myself.

DPS seems to be normal. I am not noticing any drop in DPS using Kiss for my ranger.

tried that didnt work, autoattack or autofire wont start...tried with both: /if (${Macro.Name.Equal[kissassist.mac]} && ${Target.Type.Equal[npc]} && ${Target.PctHPs}<99) /attack on
