Question - 2 Box on Agnarr with possible 3rd

Going to box enchanter with another for Agnarr coming up and was wondering if cleric will be that much better than druid as a box. Strictly for leveling quick and farming for high plat drops.. Does cleric outweigh druid alongside chanter? If I can convince my dad to play, I can almost certainly say he would roll a shaman or cleric. With one of those thrown in, what's the more versatile.. Shaman Druid Ench or Druid Cleric Ench? Thoughts? Looking for just a little insight on progression in the early stages.

I believe Clerics are practically better because of complete heal on pets and rez of course. Druids have plenty utility upside(track, ports, invis, sow). Those are kind of the factors I'd look at.

Clerics can rez which is the only reason they'd be useful to bring for your box team. (Trust me running back when you have a single mistake and someone dies is a total nightmare, rez is a great utility) - it's not needed as much if you don't mind bothering a nearby player for a rez (most introverts wouldn't dare be so intrusive). Honestly I wouldn't recommend a Cleric over a Druid unless you know for sure you're an extrovert and don't mind asking for ports and SoW every time you need it.

Druids are great because they can port, damage and heal as well as SoW. They'd be better if you're a more introverted player and don't like begging for help constantly like you'd be doing if you rolled a cleric. Since Druids can more or less do everything they are much more suited for a player who prefers to be self sufficient and not have to rely on others for help at every turn.

That's about a summary of your options =P

it also depends if you're planning on playing on your own as this boxed duo or as the basis for a group (pick up or otherwise).

If I was planning on boxing without adding any others, I'd have a hard time picking cleric over druid. If it's Ench & healer then I would guess you plan on charm pet tanking. I would not want to try to keep a charm pet without snare.

If I was playing from the "insta group" mindset, then I might add the cleric instead of the druid as it could be a better payout in a full group setting.

I had the same question. I had planned on 2 boxing a cleric/chanter. I used this combo a bit on Phinny playing with my buddies cleric. It was solid. I was tempted to add a 3rd box but that seems like a bit more work/cash then I wanted to spend. But I had that same question. I pull with my enchanter. I get 2 mobs, I mez one and my charmed pet takes the other. What do people use to break mez? Does the enchanter do it with a dot? Cleric stun? Wait for mez to break? I was going to add a mage if I added a third box but that doesnt change my question, whats the best way to break mez when duo'ing?

melee? with chanter? or cleric? haha I'll probably just make a macro for the cleric to root/stun and see how that goes.

That's true. Didn't think about that. Any popular macro's for the cleric/chanter setup? I'll admit I'm pretty old school and havent practiced enough boxing.

Can you use a macro to load a spell set, cast a spell or 2 and then reload other spell set?

I've ran all of my enchanter crews with a Cleric. Two big reasons. The first is being able to rez is beyond helpful. Second is that they can buff 2-4x what an on-level druid is capable of. It's very easy to recharm even without snare but at higher levels having the added HP is always very nice. The big added benefit is that the cleric is far more of a fire and forget nature than the druid. In most camps/groups I really only need to cast with the cleric to root the mob I'm fighting if the enchanter is low on mana. If I have the luxury of a charm pet tanking I literally only need to turn to the cleric once or twice an hour to rebuff and cast a CH. Druid requires far more interaction to bring its weight. Really, I don't need the DPS of a druid since a charmed pet that's hasted with weapons will melt just about everything. So the superior buffs/heals of a cleric win out for me. I get Sow from pots and most of the time you'll be spending your time in two zones to farm anyways so the odd port isn't all that useful. Personally, I just bind outside whatever dungeon I'm farming and use origin/gate to get my crew back and forth.

I was thinking DE chanter and DE cleric. The DE cleric could get the snare clicky if it helps that much for safely charming.

You made a comment about weapons on the charmed pet. Does that mean no matter what mob I'm charming I should give it 2 weapons? Are their common weapons that I should buy or use? By giving them a weapon does it force an extra attack? I appreciate the help leading up to Agnarr!

Clicky snare won't work for that purpose for two reasons. Firstly its duration is way too short. Secondly, its DoT component will break any mez during the recharm segment.

I'm pretty sure that giving a pet two weapons will guarantee the DW check every single attack round. Common ones are the gnoll-hide lariats, SSoYs, and Wu's Trance Sticks. Not really sure what's common after that point. I was also extremely fond of dual Dawnfires when I had them a while back.

this is great info. Thanks ragefiremoney! Your link was super helpful too. I never really played a chanter before so it's appreciated.
