Hey everyone =)
I decided to write this short little guide on how I PL 1-90 just as a thank you to this community for being so awesome.
Prerequisites:
Classes: SK, Cleric, Necro, Wizard, PLee
Items: (Invested)Honed Wurmslayer, No Reposte primary/secondary(trophies, journeyman's compass, etc.), The Golden Pick
Macros: Any type of "hitall" macro. I can't remember where I got mine and it's too early to look up lol
For this method, I have an SK with a Wurmslayer and no repo weaps on bandolier. When it comes to heals, for the love of god please don't use a merc. I've lost so many pulls because of their aggro. I have a Cleric OOG with xtar healing/buffing on and my Tank and PLee on xtar. I also have a wizard for ports, and a necro involved.
This method actually likes melee more over casters, but either work just as well. I like to use a burner wizard, just to have aoes to speed things up around ~60.
1-12:
This is where the wizard comes into play. Make your level 1 PLee and have them land in CR. Origin your wizard there as well. Then, invite PLee to wiz group, hit group invis and port them to Icefall Glacier. From there, you're gonna be running to pick up a ground spawn towards the bottom right, "Shattered Krithigor Keystone" if I can remember correctly. Pick that up, and hit a wolf for a free port back to CR. Then run up to Librarian Hemfar and turn it in for a free 12-13 levels.
Next, you're gonna want to have done "The Golden Pick" quest on some toon. It's around lvl 20, I did it on my SK since it's tradable. The quest is also repeatable if you're like me and lost yours in a sea of boxes.
Q:Why do I need this pick? I hate quest lines!!
A: Put simply, this pick procs 1 pt unresistable dmg from level 12 and up. Thus, why we conveniently did the GS turn-in for a free 12 levels.
12-90:
From here you have options. I like to goto grounds because I have ports for it, I also do Fear Itself sometimes, and I've been experimenting with VoA zones. I have a hotbar dedicated to this section. I have my no repo weapons and my wurmslayer/shield bandoliered and hotkeyed, and I also have a social that strips me of DSes(SK self buffs and druid if I feel like bringing her). Lastly I have my Unity AA hotkey'd so I can quickly put DSes on, although they're not necessary really if you have a necro.
So, you're at your camp, lowbie has the OP weapon, the hitall macro and preferably some buffs to take an aoe or two here and there. Cleric is helpful for this in that there's battle rezzes to recover pulls.
So, on your SK, switch to no repo weapons, drop all your DSes and make sure you have 2 terror spells, 3-4 PBAE aggro spells and protest loaded on your bar. Protest is needed because it gives an AC boost, terror procs your cascades which give you some pretty sweet runes for 50+ 85-90ish mobs. PBAE aggro explains itself, don't let the level 12 piss em off!
From here, pull like hell.
I save my one-shot abilities for named because most of the ones in grounds have AEs that kill lowbies. Also do your best to avoid getting caster mobs, in Fear Itself I had to put a Skull of Null on the lowbie to block the wizard rains.
Bring all your mobs back to camp, and run into a corner where they can beat on your back but you can still cast. Chain all your PBAEs once. From there, periodically cast PBAEs, but duck for the majority of the pull, they can't reposte this way from the wurmslayer, but your healer has to pick up a little more.
After this, switch to lowbie and run your hitall macro/Lua,etc.
Once everything's been hit, Cast your Unity AA and tab over to your necro.
You're going want to make sure you have the highest level "Remote Sphere" line loaded up, and both your FD buttons ready.
Cast the sphere on top of the horde, let it do one tick, and then FD. The necro won't kill steal this way, and it kills everything incredibly fast.
Now, just rinse and repeat =)
If using a class that can aoe, I've found you can generally hit the mobs around 60-70ish range, with resists here and there. It speeds things up slightly and has your tank get beat on less.
Hope this guide can help some people interested in learning to PL or tired of leveling alts, I'm still sad the wurmslayer got nerfed as hard as it did.
Happy Hunting Everyone!
