I've used this gem to make a ton of plat, and twink all of my alts. I figured it was time to pass this bit of wisdom along. I /movelogged to a server that has a lot of MQ users so I don't do this often anymore for fear of being seen on the map.
MPG is a flat plane zone. With the exception of a few raised spots, the z-axis falls right at -309. One night my boyfriend was acting like an idiot before raid time and was jumping from the top of the wall at the zone in. He accidentaly tumbled over the top of the wall (must be maximum shunk-I dont think you can scale over wall anymore) and found himself standing on thin air outside of the zone walls. He ran around and find that he didnt 20k anywhere. There is easily enough room outside the walls to kite anything in the zone.
So we started making a waypoint matrix of all the locs where named are. Believe it or not, running around the outside of the zone takes FOREVER to get anywhere. So we set up warp locs. Once we had the locs in place, we could warp anywhere and pet pull any named right through the zone wall.
In the smaller octagon shaped rooms where named spawn (battlemaster denik, Fleshthreader Dashii, etc), the outer wall is transparent (can pull with LOS spell or range item, good for monks/bard with fm) The bigger hexagon rooms (Neuromancer Vionne) have solid walls but can still be pulled with pet. Most adds in these rooms cannot be pacified or harmonied.
Some of the mobs summon, some don't. Both my boyfriend and I play highend players so he had no problems tap-tanking (necro) summon mobs while I healed him (cleric). If you use the nosummon offset you are golden.
If you are going to try this, keep in mind: People will be camping these mobs legitimately sometimes. Pay attention to map and camp checks. If a group knows a mob is up and you gank it, they may petition and you may get got. Plus, it's just plain rude.
Here's a list of all of my locs for the zone.
Strategist Kin`Muram="-779 2508 -309"
Cleaver Wiex="-4638 745 -309"
Lieutenant Commander Nak`Muram="-4730 1941 -309"
trio="-513 -1660 -309" (Denik, Dashii, and Ghio spot)
Discordling Enchainer Kuroun=-1431 772 -309"
Neuromancer Vionne and Sentinel Siofet="-5785 -1519 -309"
center="-3120 -995 -309" (center of the zone)
Noc Bloodluster Zieh="-658 -99 -309"
Kyv Hunter Lheun=-3067 1687 -309"
Aneuk Tyrannist="-2505 -2354 -309"
Stormer="-4052 -1608 -309"
Cadavor Fonidan="175 -1164 -309"
Diodite Blue Spark="175 -1164 -309"
So repeat:
1) Zone in.
2) /w all # for list of named up (commonly will find Lightningcaller Vhalek, Distilled Lightning Warrior, and Pashia Clouddancer - these are not loot mobs, ignore them)
3) Warp to a loc supplied above, find yourself standing on thin air. Test your surroundings, you will run into an invisible wall where your boundaries are.
4) Pull, if you get a bad pull, set up a hotkey to warp to another spot in the list above. Warping to succor in MPG is very noticeable, especially when you're a pet class. Every loc in that list is a safe spot.
5) Kick it's ass
6) Loot
