Another, different way to PL a newbie

First of all, before I start this, I want to give full credit to

There are another 2 quests in South Ro that take about 10 minutes to complete, and you can do them in conjuction with the Caiman Issue in the link above. None of these tasks have a lock out timer and can be gotten again immediately upon finishing it.

Who: Tacots Silentblade

Where: South Ro, Loc +3889, -2066

What: This NPC gives out 2 easy quests, the easiest one is called "Giants of the desert" and a harder one (due to the spawn times of the named) is called "Guardians of the sand".

The method I actually used was to start a newbie and box with my 70 monk, first time, I hailed the NPC with both toons and they both received the tasks. The first task, Giants of the desert, involves killing 15 Sand Giant Elites and these giants can be found in South Ro and North Ro, both update the quest.

The reason that you can box these toons together is that you get the task separately and when you kill with the high toon, the lowbie also gets the credit because you are boxing.

There are 11 mobs in South Ro and 5 Mobs in North Ro, so the task can be completed in one round if you are lucky. The level 70 actually got 2.3% of an AA just for completing this task, but my level 1 got enough xp to reach level 8 with just this one task.

The giant tasks actually update and give xp on the final kill, so you dont need to go and hail the NPC to get the credit... all I did was park the lowbie next to the task giver, and just hailed to get the task again, and did all the running around with my level 70.

The second giant task involves killing the 2 named giants, one in Sout Ro and the other in North Ro, thats it... it gave more XP and 65pp, but it was something to have running in the background while waiting for the named to spawn as you were killing the Sand Giant Elites in both zones.

After reaching level 8 in 7 minutes, I ran the monk over and killed the 15 Caiman for the task is the other thread and went from level 8 to 10...

I alternated between the 2 tasks (Giants in the desert, and The Caiman Issue) as I waited for the giants to respawn (10 to 15 min timer) and each task was getting me a level each until level 15 or 16 IRC.

Currently, level 20 and it takes 4 tasks for a level atm, spent a total of about 3 hours.... and I need to run my newbie to get all her spells

Its a little bit different way to PL a new toon and I've done it with 3 toons so far to around level 20..

All I need to do now is run my lowbies back and get all their spells, and they all have max freeport faction, inc DE mage.

I hope you all enjoy this little sojourn away from our "usual" way to PL a toon, especially if you are a bit nervous about MQ2 atm.

Just a final word, these tasks still give around a blue of XP at level 60... I wonder if this can be automated like the AFK taskmaster?

lol south and north ro has nothing to do with the expansion prohecy of ro they were out like 7 years before that

Some new NPC were added as quest givers with the release of PoR and only could be used if you had the expansion like the link in the text at least that is what I am assuming is why he is asking.

Exactly. Also Some Mm's can not be gained unless you have the PoR expansion. The Kithicor mission "Brraaans" is one example.

The Prophecy Of Ro is required to do these tasks.

I suspect that these tasks were added so everyone can go and raise their Freeport faction and safely go and do those East and West Freeport tasks/missions.

Nice write up. I was aware of the Caiman one, but not the 2 Giant tasks. POR is needed, as Mikiky said, certainly for the Caiman one.

Yep you need PoR. I didn't like the giant one as much as the caiman one because you have to zone back and forth, and wait for repops. Seemed easier to chain the caiman one.

I've been busy on combine server but I've been meaning to try the one given by a guy near the gypsy camp in the southwest corner of Lavastorm to kill goblins and collect goblin skins. I tested that it could be gotten by a level 16 toon, and tested that he got credit when my 70 toon was killing the goblins. Didn't stick around long enough to loot the 10 skins though. This one is geared toward level 30-35 so I have a feeling it may pick up the experience some where the caiman one starts to drop off.

At level 18, I got 46.36% per giant task and 34.55% per caiman task;
At level 19, I got 41.22% per giant task.
At level 20, I get 37.23% per giant task.

So still only 3 task per level at lvl 20 (I stated around 4 tasks in my first post).

I will continue to post xp/task/lvl as I go.

I would like to try to make a macro over the next few days to see if i can take advantage of these tasks and automate them.... from hailing the NPC's with the lowbie to get the tasks (both) to getting the high lvl toon pathing along the beach for the caiman/crocs, then running to the area where the sand giants spawn, and back again while waiting for the giants to respawn.... unless someone has something i can use without starting from scratch?

lol, at lvl 36:
the xp from caiman task is 4.55%
the xp from giant task is 8%

Which isn't too bad from a task that takes no time at all to do... and now at a lvl that I can easily solo without boxing my main.
