Home network will likely be the bigger negative impact - not bandwidth but just reliability (10-20 Mbps would be sufficient generally). Some providers are garbage. Core number and core speed will help. RAM for 1K active players probably needs to be 64GB Whoops, meant to respond to @william12

Have you played EMU? Some of these servers are a great experience - stable, populated, lively... folks grouping and raiding together. Its older content with a twist but it's not a dude stringing together a shabby experience for his 2 buddies to do velious. Give it a try. I'm at Ascendant...
