The launcher has spyware in it from Sony. Mq2 won't allow the launcher to run if you run it first. You only need to use the launcher on patch days.
Use Patchme
Create a shortcut of your eqgame.exe from your EverQuest folder.
1. Right click the sortcut and select properties
2. In the Target window type patchme 1 word outside of the " " with 1 space between the " and patchme
3. Hit Apply the OK
This will allow you to bypass the launcher altogether.
