Instructions

1. Use the Patchme command to bypass the SOE Launcher
2. Download the Very Vanilla compile zip file at the bottom of this post.
3. Download the RGUpdater.
4. Use the RGUpdater to update your MacroQuest files. Instructions are here.
5. Run MacroQuest2.exe from that folder
6. Run EverQuest.exe
7. In-Game, type "/plugin <plugin name>" to add all plugins you wish to use
8. Click Here for Plugin Commands/Descriptions.

• If you're using Internet Explorer and having issues with "attachment.php" or Smartscreen Filter please read here. Or just use any other browser.

First time doing this with the RGUpdate. Whenever I run it, it starts the extraction process and errors out when writing "MQ2EQBCS.exe.tmp". I delete the .tmp file and try again and it gets a JIT exception. When I try to continue and ignore it, the extraction never seems to complete. I did check that I had the most recent RGUpdate. I figure I may be doing something wrong. Time to read or is this something that needs fixing? :-)

Actual exception message:
"System.IO.IOException: Cannot create a file when that file already exists."

EDIT:Fixed. I took a look and there was also a file called MQ2EQBCS.pending.overwrite or some such as that. I had accidentally run the updater initially with EQBCS open and the file got placed in the MQ2 directory and was preventing subsequent installs from running. I deleted it and the .tmp and everything went flawlessly. Sorry about that. < ---- I blame it on being old.

Latest vanilla doesn't have latest MQ2Melee....says 7.0.5 but it's the one missing cleric yaulp.....also still missing SK Repel (all ranks) and Pally Repel Rk. II

For those of you that use MQ2AutoLogin plugin, it is for the moment broken.

It is getting hung on a screen display. Not sure what they changed in the normal login screen display order,
but a simple ENTER function call at that point allows the plugin to progress normally after.

I am trying to do a first time install and have run into a couple errors:

Both times I followed the instructions in both this thread and the RGUpdate 1.2 thread, followed along step by step in the video.

The first time it gave me an error saying it could not find the file MQ2Netbots.dll.tmp in my MQ2 folder (the one I set as the destination in RGUdate). I tried deleting my Very Vanilla Compile 20150225 and redownloading. The website did not let me redownload for about an hour, and when it did, I got a new error: "Cannot read that as a ZipFile."

Is there something really obvious I am doing wrong?

A few things to try:

1) Use a brand new directory.
2) make sure you have .net framework 4

3) the downloads should never take an hour, unless you're on dialup. Try a web browser like Chrome or Firefox, and right-click, save-as to your desktop.


edit: we figured it out over chat, the webbrowser was having download issues, a fresh install of firefox fixed this.

It wound up being a browser issue.

Both Internet Explorer and Chrome gave me the same errors. Firefox worked fine.

No clue why the browsers did this, but if you run into these errors, perhaps firefox will work for you.
