Say you want to afk camp a named mob and you want one of its rare drops. You can afk and kill that named, but you won't click the icon in the adv loot menu to always loot it.

You manually add a rare loot item to your Adv looting list by editing 2 files:
~EQroot/userdata/LF_AN_**Name_**Server -> stands for ALWAYS NEED
~EQroot/userdata/LF_Rnd_**Name_**Server -> Clicks the always auto roll (only needed if you're grouped)

Both files have this syntax:
Rich (BB code):
#ITEM_ID^ICON_ID^ITEM_NAME
22503^966^Blue Diamond
10037^966^Diamond

These files should already be populated if you've used adv loot at least once. After you edit these files you will have to camp and come back. I was also having trouble getting my manual entries overriten when I clicked on a new Always need/Always roll on the GUI. So if you set a rare manually you will have to be careful to not click on an item in advloot, or you will have to manually re-add the text files

Now you need to know where to get the item ID. Very easy, you can use our good friends allakhazam.com!
Say you want to afk and let your pet kill the named that drops this 38ac rare aug http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=93488
You can see the ITEM_IDin the url right there!

The ICON_ID is a bit harder.
UwteUr4.png
You can right click on the items icon on allakhazam and click open image in new tab and it will open up to the url http://everquest.allakhazam.com/pgfx/item_2613.png
Now you know the ICON_ID is 2613

You will need to add the rare item to both files and make sure the leader of the group has the ~EQroot/userdata/LF_Rnd_**Name_**Server set.

Now you can go to any camp afk there for a few hours and come back to the rare item in your inventory!

I'm currently using this to camp rare tank augs, just have to afk there with merc and come back in a few hours and the aug is in my inventory =)

Just to add, you can also do this with Ninjadvloot. Just add the item to your loot ini file. Example(under the S section) Shimmering Heart of the Phantasm=keep. Then as long as you have that char set to loot, it will loot no drop things for you. I've used this for tons of stuff like augs, tempest clicky, no drop quest crap that I am looking for.

Really? It overwrites stuff that you put into the files manually?... They need to stop hiring those fancy college edumacated idiots.
I hate the lag spikes mine makes when I add a new item because of the way they used 4 separate files like it's 1980 and they're in the 3rd grade learning to program a shiny new Apple IIgs...

Anyway... the way around that might be to Add some meaningless junk items to your AlwaysNeed and AlwaysRoll files... then overwrite them manually with the actual rare stuff that you want to keep.

you have to camp out/zone if you modify the file by hand or it will be overwritten, but yeah this Advl loot feature using 4 separate files with the actual name of the item as string in the row is really stupid. It should only be a list of item ID's.

Necroing this thread to bring up something. If you add the items you want to have added to your loot files to dummy loot files and then use the Advloot merge/replace feature it will add them as if you were copying them over from another character even if said other character doesn't exist.

Great tip, thanks for sharing

To add on to this, most of my toons are missing augs of any kind, so I want to hunt in the various current and past hot zones for the zone wide aug drops. The trouble is I would rather afk hunt, so I needed the info for the various augs for the LF_AN amd LF_Rnd files. Below is the list for augs that have AC and HP (I think the most recent hot zone augs (Gnomework Gaskets, Barkmelter Beetle, and Clockwork Reinforcement are too new on Alla's to have the Icon ID added, so if you find that info, replace it.) :

Yes, I just necro'd a thread but we need people to post loot.ini and advloot information for EOK, think I may make it a wiki....

I would love to use adv loot but I haven't even tried to take that task on yet , hoping someone posts a good one that will work for me.

I did one for TBM, it was brutal, took me 2 days of looking shit up!

Just a quick note... =Quest should always have a number limit. |1 or |15... without a limit ninjadvloot defaults to something like 10 of them. This becomes very important if the items are no drop.

Just fyi about advl: you only need to have an item in your greed or need. After a few minutes, all loot is set to auto roll, and if you are set to loot, you will roll. Might save you a step :)

in theory I agree but in practice we find a lot of loot left on corpses if you rely on it to roll on loot... basically if the master looter has it and it is lore then it is left! tested, proved and pissed about it! time to write that shit in the ini and advloot files!
