KissAssist Release Tips for making characters react faster when mob arrives

I've seen people say characters can be slow to engage sometimes, even when they are set to start at 99%. I've had similar issues too but found some ways to speed it up. Thought we could share any tips. Here's mine:

Tip 1-
The main culprit for me is MedCombat=. I like to set it to 1 (on) because I pull constantly and some characters go out of mana if they are standing the whole time. So med combat lets them sit when they aren't fighting. But sometimes they will med through a whole fight. I am ok with it but I had to get used to it. Also sometimes they will be medding and reach 100% when the mob is nearly dead, so they stand up and nuke at the last minute. So it looks like they are super slow to react, but really they are just medding like I told em. For raiding or a big named, I have a hotkey that sets everyone to MedCombat=0 and then I re-run kiss to make sure they are set up to fight that way. It seems to work well, I just have to remember to turn medcombat back on when I go back to farming/grinding.

Tip 2-
Not sure if Kiss changed sometime in the last few years or was always like this, but either way I had my Melee section wrong for a while. And it was really screwing me up. I had
[Melee]
AssistAt=99
MeleeOn=0
FaceMobOn=1
MeleeDistance=50
etc.
I figured MeleeDistance was just how close you stand to mobs if you do melee but that was wrong, the MeleeDistance is the range they will engage mobs, even if they are casters or whatever. So I now set this to more like MeleeDistance=100 so if I end up tanking something a bit away from the group, they will still engage.

Tip 3-
It is also worth trying to slim down and consolidate your ini sections as much as possible. Like I had lots of conditions and apparently it needs to read through all of them each time it goes over that section, so it can slow things down if the files get too big. So I got it down to 20 conditions and that seems better. I also moved some dps and even buffs that were better suited to be in the Burns section. Also I turned off the [AE] section on most characters because they only had 1 spell that they were slow to use, so I put it in dps with a condition instead and that's much faster. And this is one less section for KA to deal with.

@microscope You might want to lookup StartUp Commands This would allow you to set the MedCombat=0 when starting the macro and just use a condition to see if in a raid or not, could actually us the ${If[]} command and return a zero or one when setting MedCombat.

Yes. MeleeDistance is the distance used to engage mobs even for Non melee characters. A good rule of thumb is to set all non melee characters, MeleeDistance to be large enough to encompass the Tanks MeleeDistance, and the distance from the tank when you start the macro. So if you have the Tanks MeleeDistance set to 75 and you start the macro at a distance of 25 from the tank, then you want a minumum of 100 for your MeleeDistance. That way the non melee characters start their DPS at the same time the Tank takes off after the mob, on incoming. This is still dependent on the mobs HP level verses the AssistAt value.
