Question - So...I see Vanilla has been marked not for Agnarr

As the author of AutoMarcos, the most used, popular cleric macro ever created and the main spirit animal of MQ2 for the last 8 years with at least 2% of all new ideas and additions in MacroQuest2 coming from or suggested by me, I 101% agree with eqmule

As the one dude who did the compiles here at RG for a while, was quasi-maybe-popular-in-my-head for a hot minute for doing so, and who is currently playing a level 50 Rogue (and a bunch of alts) on Agnarr, I also agree 100+% with EQMule.

Let me be clear, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to have at least the MQ2Map Functionality on Agnarr. I miss it. But do I need it to play? Absolutely not.

I took a big step back and looked at the big picture of what is going on. Mule has been taking care of the MQ2 Community pretty much solo for almost 5 years. He has stated, OPENLY, that he has had sit-down meetings with the folks at SoE/DBG about MQ2. He's managed to get them to have their lawyers actually change the wording of the EULA to allow MQ2 use on the normal Live servers --a nice big chunk of money spent to have this done as well on DBGs part -- as long as you're not AFK. In return, they have asked him to disable MQ2 use on TrueBox servers. That seems like an extremely fair trade-off.

What DBG is saying is "Ok, we see you want to use this program, we'll give in. You can use it on all of these servers over here, just not these two, please. We are trying to make at least one spot for our paying customers to be able to go to to not have to deal with botting if they don't want to." Again, there's 15+ other servers to play on and use MQ2 if you so wish. There's 2 where you can't. I think we should at least respect that wish considering how it IS their game, and they could just do a blanket ban of all MQ2 users if they so wanted to. We obviously enjoy playing the game as well, as we're all on a community page talking about how to circumvent their rules. ;)

Anyway, just my take on it. Please don't take that as a personal attack on anyone. I've been very torn over this topic since I first came back to EQ and heard of TrueBox. But the above is my takeaway and ramblings.

As a long time user and someone that accidently figured out a way to improve looting.... what was the question again?!?!

I fully agree with eqmule, as long as they leave us alone on the live servers, we should be content to leave them alone on the truebox servers.

although it would be awesome if warping could be revived...
Still I think I share the view and feelings of a great many users. I don't have the knowledge or skills to code. I can barely write macro scripts. I am fully and completely addicted to macroquest and praise all the greater and lesser powers that provide the updates every month. Without MQ2 I simple would not play everquest.

To be very clear... THANK YOU coders and developers for all you do.

As the author and creator of the first and original Advance Loot system code that all macros, inc files and plugins are based on.
You are welcome.

Some people just can't seem to stay out of the "do not enter" areas, and insist on going anyways.

Hence we have the umpteen bagillion rules and regulations for real life, let alone gaming.

As someone who watches this sort of behavior daily (and eventually folks getting fired over it) I will just say the same thing I tell the new hires.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you.
Think, before you do something. (life is about choices, and paying the consequences of those choices)
Doing something just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you SHOULD do something.
Your personal gratification only goes so far when it harms others

I work in an industry where folks have to work together, occasionally putting their lives in other people's hands. As such, you learn fast (or get taught hard) that when our actions effoects other folks, other folks tend to pay attention and take action.

I have never advocated AFK playing (DBG's biggest complaint about MQ aside from the active hacks) and have no compunction reporting such behavior when folks abuse it in common areas. Some folks don't much care for the idea --shrugs-- If you AFK in current content heavily populated zones for days on end, you ar ehanging a big neon sign over your head saying REPORT ME I WANT TO BE BANNED, I am just helping you along there.

The same sorta thing, in my book, applies to the "no MQ on these 2 servers". The vast majority of MQ users abide by this restriction, so that the community of MQ users can benefit. If that is threatened, then the MQ community ought to be actively looking to stop it, in order to maintain the peace.

Yes, the post is blunt. I am tired, and a blunt sorta fellow =P

I make no assumptions about people at all or if they use or don't use mq2, I'm responding to people that claim there is a working mq2 for true box servers while at the same time saying they have seen people use it on those servers.i am simply saying to those people, fine I'll check it out, tell me when and where it happens so I can gather some intel on it and perhaps even be able to corroborate the claims. (Or refute)As for someone forking the source, well that used to be my biggest concern but not anymore, if that happens I would just stop updating mq2 in which case their fork would be useless, we are at a point where updating it without my help would be a complete nightmare. (Unless they also rollback to the 2013 version in which case it would still be difficult but at least not nearly impossible.)Just look at the spawninfo or contents or charinfo structs... compare them to what they looked like 5 years ago... do you really think anyone but me (or someone close to me) could update them nowadays? I don't think that's going to happen.I AM vested in the future of MQ2 for no other reason than my love for EQ and it.I have no financial horse in it. If you think that, go for it, fork the source and see how much money there is in it lol.If I wanted money, I surely would have sold a working MQ2 for those servers don't you think?I have been offered thousands of $ already from a couple of individuals and even my own brother asked me for a working build, I have turned them all down. You believe whatever you want about me and my motives, but the truth is, I'm just one of those pesky idealists that can't be bribed or swayed or bought no matter how much money you wave in front of me. It's about honor and keeping my word.
That's cool man, I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, nor was I insinuating that I'd ever waste time on developing a fork of MQ2, especially not for money. If you really do this with zero compensation you really are just a crazy person. But hey, I get it. Coding for a game you love is a great hobby to get passionate about.Maybe you really do just feel this is what's best for the future of EverQuest. I mean, it's not EXACTLY out of character for MQ2 devs to try to help the game despite the service it provides, referring of course to the small steps added to stop normal folks from running certain active hacks. I just never thought I'd see the day where it would take a direction in which it was entirely disallowed from any server, especially this late in the game. Sure would have been nice to see this commitment for the PVP servers back when people still played them. At least there the MQ2 advantage was held directly over another player and not just the NPCs.But in any case, regardless of how I feel about that decision, I am still grateful to you for doing what you do. So thank you!

I'm sure people are assuming any automation is Macroquest. Hell, there have already been a few people here that have wrote their own code (or grabbed some other program that already does it) to do automation. Lots of programs will do pixel detection and things like that to do simple things like oh this health bar at around 70% isn't red anymore, I should cast a heal. Hit 1. They don't inject, and you can run them on anything. Hell, in any modern MMO, any bot used will pretty much always use this type of method to avoid injecting.
