Question - Scouting Ahead

Has anyone had success getting the Scouting Ahead auto macro (written by Blitter) working correctly from the MQ2 VIP section? My Bard just runs south into the walls and dies without me taking over.

I have started messing with it but Im still trying to figure out why scouting ahead when into the hills is so much easier to run nothing to loot just a simple hail at end and run back to start of zone hail
there and zone out , no mobs behind walls and what not. plus my sk is my puller so I am trying to wrap my head around the whole bard as puller thing .
I usually use kissassist for all of my toons as well so looking at his code it appears I would run this on bard bard becomes puller and sk becomes strait tank .

Anyone have contacts within the mq2 community? I have attempted to make two different login's and I am still waiting the confirmation emails.

mroutlaw - I would think that "Into the Hills" probably requires some splitting of the mobs guarding the dead folks, where as Scouting Ahead is almost just a straight up fight except for maybe the first two areas with NPCs.

eqmule,

Thanks for the assistance!

mroutlaw, did you getting the macro running with KA as well? Some kind soul donated me the Latent Armor for all my toons, now I only need to grind out enough Marks for spells/non-visables and aug's I want :) I was thinking I would need about 100 iterations of any HA, but now that should me much lower and I might be willing to try out the macro for this HA.

well I got it working with kiss however my bard just isn't as good as the original writers to handle 4 mobs beating on him but if you follow his directions it does work , I stand by that into the hills is faster doable for me though.

Gotta agree MrOutlaw. Into the Hills takes me 20-25 minutes with me pulling with my SK. All grp geared toons but does include a bard so he does mezz the adds so I don't really even try to split. I play the SK manually and the rest of the group "KISS" it up. For the rewards given (XP/Marks on 6 toons) I haven't found a better spot for time invested. Wish they would put the rares back in the instances though. Then it might be worth trying to automate that task somewhat on my SK.

As a follow up, Blitter has posted a macro for "Into the Hills". I have not worked out the kinks in either macro yet for my own use, but I thought I would pass on the info for those interested. Check the VIP Macros section on MQ2.

I tried Scouting ahead, but my bard isn't meqty enough for the pulls. Once i get back home i will have to check out his new mac.

So I got the "Into the Hills" macro working for me. It takes about an hour for the macro to run through the mission. Once I had my songs set up properly, it works very well! I did change the setup section of the code to the following for use with kissassist:
Rich (BB code):
Sub SetupCamp
|----------------
|
| This area is where you send out /bct's to your other toons to set up. i.e The tank sets up ready to receive mobs, you healers set up.
|
|-----------------
|  /bct ${Toon2} //tar ${TankName}
| /delay 5s
|  /bct ${TankName} //mac ${TankMacro}

eqgeek,

I made some minor tweaks as well to the same mac. And as you probably have seen my posts about using Fading Memories, it is from using this macro that has spurred all my interests in my down and holy flags. I need about 5 more decent merchant purchased items and I think I can go with the other portion of the macro that pulls more at a time and pulls quicker, and not worry about my bard going splat at the pull point after a large pull.

i joined mq2 vip to see this and man i have asked and asked for ways to make my SK pull or find away to get the mission request part melded with kissassist. i know nothing about coding so i cant fixt it is there a way one of the masters here can help me?

I haven't tried this yet, but I assume this macro only works if you have bard?

If so, then I veto g_kinz for a request to make it work for an sk. Will gladly donate $ for this.

i am working with blitter on setting up as an SK puller. he doent play an SK and is SK is puller it will require an enchanter so hopefully we can work some bugs out. he has put a lot of work into this macro. i wish i knew how to code this is impressive. but man if we could merge his quest accepting code to kiss assist that would work amazing

i just got a pm from blitter he has never seen this site as lvl 2 so i told him i will donate him a month as level 2 if he can help us with the coding.

Anyone figure this out with sk as puller n chanty as mezzer..?

If so please lmk will gladly donte for file

We have been trying to reach to writer, but he is not responding for over a week now :S

You will need VIP acces though, a onetime donation of $10 will give you access.

1. You need a bard. You can likely modifier the code to work with another puller. One of the hard aspects is trying to pull the end mobs behind the walls of the building.
The bard does use Sonic Displacement which is a lvl 91 ability. You could modify it to not use it - however I can't guarentee you'll get all the mobs.

He says that in one of his mac's, don't know if thats a green light we can just use his code to write it for a SK?

Okay, I got Into The Hills to work with my bard now.

It was my first HA ever /cheer

I don't understand how you can reset this HA though, if I zone out and request it again I get Scouting Ahaed with the same requesting phrase /shrug

Am I doing something wrong? /hide

Dutch,

Have you done all three missions? I can quickly let you know how to code it I believe once I look at the mac again.

This is the section of code you look at:
Rich (BB code):
/if (${Target.Distance}<50) {
    /say willing
    /delay 2s
    /notify TaskSelectWnd TSEL_TaskList listselect 3
    /delay 2s
    /notify TaskSelectWnd TSEL_AcceptButton leftmouse 3
If you have done all three mission you will want have the macro select 3, if you have only done one and it is the only mission available you will change 3 to 1.

I have done the first two missions 'Into the Hills' and 'Scouting Ahead', the problem is I don't want to start the mission with my bard, but with my sk. Someone mentioned it's very suspicious if you start the mission with a bard, so I am trying to avoid that.

So I manually zone in and when the mission ends with the final hail I stop the macro. Check the loot on the named and manually zone out. I found out how to reset it now btw /hide

You know which piece of code to adjust or remove to end the mac after the last hail mate?

I do, but I don't worry about it. My bard doesn't "look" like a bard anyway. And if someone is going to sit there and attempt to figure out who is running a macro, more power to them. I see dozens of folks AFK there at the request NPC, with numerous campsites. I just run the mac with my bard and don't stress over it. I am not taking away from anyone who might be trying to camp a named in a static zone. My toon isn't at the request NPC for more than a minute anyway.

It will tell you where to place you mez spell and your aura and your first 4 combat songs.

Dutch, make sure to start it with bard. It will grab mission zone in and relay to all toons to zone in. Im not sure how SK will work with pulling unless you change some of the mac to not pull till all mobs are dead. The way it is now the bard pulls when there is 1 mob left in camp that is less than 70% health.

Once all is done it will have you all run back to the zone in, hail the npc, zone out and drop the task then restarts all over.

I have gotten my group to run it in about 35 - 40 minutes or so.

Thanks, now I just need to get my bard some levels he is almost 90 and not sure what level he needs to be

I've been doing into the hills with my 95 bard, now 100, and it takes longer but works until your bard can handle it.

I would say the big issue with a tank pulling is that you can't really use KA and this mac without rewriting it.

Pretty sure kiss will pull the zone properly using mq2nav just not do any of the task stuff like hailing the NPC.

Negative. :-)
My puller will do great for the first turn, then somehow tries to pull the mobs by the walls instead of the ones down the path. If we can somehow use the Advpath that these macros use in combo with the KA puller and puller tank roles, we'd be in business. I can do all the hails myself!

my bard doesnt even run the right way he just runs into the wall... I got the path file and all the plugins loaded... no idea what I am doing wrong

The path file and the macros have to be in the macros folder. I had that problem when I first tried using the macro.
