Question - Safety of ShowEQ

Hey all,

I play on TLPs and was wondering how safe it is to use ShowEQ. I assume if the devs had enough resources they could detect it and ban users, is this something that has been done in the past? I know there have been some banwaves, but has it been confirmed if someone has ever been banned solely for using ShowEQ?

I've thought about making a monk that would only be played on a separate PC through a VPN, making it pretty much impossible for dbg to associate that monk with my main account. The monk box would be the one running ShowEQ. Is it worth the trouble or should it be safe to use on my main toon?

Thanks!

It's pretty safe and I haven't heard of anybody getting a ban for using it. If it's on your same computer, in theory they can detect it though.

If you want to be 100% safe, I think there is still a Linux version that you can setup on a different computer and let it packet sniff the EQ traffic to your gaming computer. Then it isn't detectable at all. (I'm not sure if you meant that version to begin with or the Windows version.)

ShowEQ merely reads in the information the client sends, it doesn't alter it in anyway and also beside the obvious advantage it gives, does nothing to aid in gameplay, short of shouting out in game your using it, you will be ok
