Yes, thats right, this is safe fall for non-scouts
What You Do

For this you must be in windowed mode.

You jump off of something from a height that would hurt you (or even kill you) and you click and hold the top bar of the everquest window until you think you are near the ground. Then you let go and you should pop on the ground with no damage taken.

That trick is pretty helpful is pvp if you are on the getaway, and want to lose a person from the opposing side

Actually, this is an old trick that causes you to go momentarily LD and warp to your new location.

If you find that playing windowed is too much of a pain in the ass, or it isn't working for you, just unplug your network connection, jump to the new spot (or run past the KOS mobs), and plug it back in.

I'm able to walk all over KOS with this method, getting past all the nasty mobs so I can pick up the shinies.
