You need a Main Assist role set on someone in the group, preferably a tank. That character targets the mob you want to fight and all other characters will key off that MA role. KA is programmed to key everything off the MA's target.

Also, even the Puller role needs to have the MA character targeted when you start KA.

And it's best not to set up group near NPCs. Even non-aggro NPCs will break the ability of the macro to use AE aggro capabilities on your tank.

Finally, if you are pulling manually you don't want the macro running in Puller mode because it will immediately go out and pick the nearest NPC to pull. If running manually just don't run the macro at all. The macro will always try to fight you for movement.

You made that char the puller, if I understand your explanation. Thats why he started attacking things.

on the char you want to be the puller, you type /mac kissassist puller. Not like you did and just target him.

That is for me manually pulling and playing the bard right? not haveing the bard just go out and auto pull dont want autopulling.

What you're doing is setting the character that you are running the macro on into the puller role when you type that. When you start KA on any character, the role is being set for the character the macro is ran on and has no effect on any other character in the group. The reason you target someone when you run the macro is so it knows who it's supposed to be assisting.

You don't need to declare a puller in any way if you're pulling manually, you just want the other characters in the Assist role.
EDIT: Or tank mode if they're the tank.

Still having some issues i am sorry having hard time wrapping my head around this.

Could anyone give me step by step how i would set it up.

I have a SK tank (role set to main tank)
Bard who i play and manually pull with (role Main assist and puller)
a Mage
a BSt

just need to know what would i type on each toon and do i need to target the bard or anything .

I would also like the group esp the tank to automatically assist and tag soon as i am in camp

thank you again for your help sorry for being such a newb,

You don't have to type it out every time if you set the role in your KA ini. (Also you can make in game hotkeys for it as well using your social buttons (ctrl+o in game))
EDIT: An example of this might be
/target *TANKNAME*
/pause 10
/mac kissassist assist

The bard is being played manually, so it doesn't need to even run the macro.

The mage and beast should both be set in Assist role (So /mac kisskssist assist ) while targeting whoever you want them to be assisting. I would highly suggest the SK, but there's situations where you might want that to be different.

The SK should be in Tank role ( /mac kissassist tank ) Targeting himself if you want him to be choosing his own target in camp.

You can set a camp by doing a /camphere on (or 'off' if you want to remove it and move somewhere else). That way they will stay relatively close to wherever you have told them to stay no matter how much they need to move while fighting.

You don't need to apologize for not knowing. None of us knew at first, and with no prior coding knowledge the logic isn't as obvious.

thank you avian really helping me wrap my head around this

side question useing the eq2mage plugin and eq2sk plugin and the eq2bst plugin do their plugins overwrite the ini file for them? confused on this part should i find a lvl 85 ini file for the sk, bst and mage ? on site and paste that in or do the bst and mage just only use its plugin info?

Also do those plugins effect kissasssit behavior.

Thanks again you been helping me wrap my head around this.

if i type /camphere on

i get error message DoCommand- Couldnt parse '/camphere on'

The CWTN plugins (MQ2mage, etc) are another way to automate characters. They fill the same role as KissAssist does, except they're a plugin instead of a macro. Your KA ini is totally separate from that and they don't interact directly with each other. You really only want one or the other going as they're essentially doing the same thing (controlling a character)

The plugins are all standalone pieces as far as that goes and everything is already there to run characters all the way from creation to end game.

KissAssist and a plugin both trying to control a character at the same time may cause odd behavior, so again I would say you really only want one or the other running. I've heard very good things about the CWTN plugins, but I don't personally use them, so I can't say much more about them specifically.

I’m sure Sic will be able to explain better, but here is a link to the hotkeys he uses. I dug through those to get a handle on how to control my characters. If you’re just starting out, then focus on the DanNet versions.

Regarding using the CWTN plugins for Mage, BST and SK, they won’t generate or use KissAssist inis, as they are self-contained plugins. You can run them alongside anyone you’re using KissAssist with, but you’ll have to send different commands to camp, chase, and so forth.

tl;dr You can use KissAssist alongside MQ2Class plugins without needing to configure ini files, but need different commands.

Sorry, I completely looked over this question earlier - That command only works after the KissAssist macro is already running on your character. If KA is not actively turned on on that character, that command doesn't do anything and you will get that error.

ok so is there a different way to have my puller be able to have the group setup camp and an easy way to break camp and go in chase mode and an way to turn off chase.

the bst, sk and mage all use cwtn plugins.

sorry this is a lot i tried looking and watching the videos but not all that clear and the wiki is even more confusing lol

We're outside of the realm of my ability to properly help you as that's not KissAssist and I don't use the CWTN plugins. However, I will refer you back to what MrInfernal linked earlier.

Sic's Hotkey Guide

(I need to stress again, I don't use CWTN plugins, so the following information might not be entirely correct. If that's the case I apologize and you can get more specific advice in the guide or in the CWTN section of these forums)

You can search the hotkey guide for the ' CampOn ' section and just below that is a Chase Key.

But it looks like the most important stuff to you is the different modes for CWTN plugins. Mode 1 is Assist and will set up a camp whenever a character is set into it and will return to camp. Mode 2 is ChaseAssist and is exactly that. Chase and Assist. This mode will set them to chase whoever is set as the Main Assist in the in game group window, so make sure you set.

So you can just setup two hotkeys to send those commands to your boxes from the bard. Sic has a whole explanation about aliases in the hotkey guide, but if I'm understanding correctly they are automatically setup now, so you shouldn't have to do anything special.

But you should just be able to use one hotkey on the bard that is /cwtn mode 1 which will set them to a camp - and another hotkey that is /cwtn mode 2 which will set them into chase mode.
EDIT: For clarity, if the aliases are setup properly, that will send those commands to all the boxes using CWTN plugins, but since you're driving on the bard it would be easiest just to do it all from him)

Since I don't use CWTN plugins and I don't have aliases setup, these commands spit out an error for me (obviously). If they do for you, you can reference the hotkey guide to find out how to properly setup the aliases if for some reason they aren't automatically created. It's not difficult and he lays out exactly what to type in the guide.

Thanks all the kissassist issues were like stated above i was trying to use kissassist without fully understanding that the CWTN basically did exact same thing and they were having issues since i was trying to run both. Now with just letting CWTN do its thing that has cleared that issue.

Hi Tigershoe ,

Welcome to RG.

Here is my 2 cents worth.

1. Take your team to a low level zone and practice this stuff until it becomes easy. Moving about and attacking stuff. Camping in place, pulling, Hunting. These are all the most important things.

2. Drive with your tank. Pull with your tank. (Using a bard to pull is old thinking)

In the group window set your SK to Main Assist.

Set the sk to Manual mode or Sic Tank mode to start with. (manual is you in control - you turn attack on - sic tank will do all the combat routines for you)
Set everyone else to Mode 2 (CHASE ON)

3. On Bard - Target the tank - /mac kissassist
in your bard ini make sure chase is on too.

Note: on the bard screen - once KA is running, you can type /chaseon or /chaseoff

Now your team should be following you where ever you go and will attack whatever you attack.

If you cant get this far...send me a dm and we can go through the details of what is going wrong.

I recommend you learn to use the Lua script Buttonmaster to make some extra hotkeys and learn to use the plugin mq2Boxr to give commands to everyone with the same syntax.

I find having everyone in chase mode ALL the time just easy. It really is like have a merc just chasing you until you get into trouble.

4. Now try the different modes with your Tank.

Hunter tank is an awesome mode because its easy to leave the rest of the group in chase mode.

Play with the Puller settings (Radius, High, Low, Arc) and see what they do on the map.
Learn how to ignore a mob, and un-ignore a mob.
