Question - Path following around edges

Is there a way to loosen path generation such that the waypoints are a bit more relaxed around edges / corners?
 
if its a navigation mesh, youd have to manually go and attempt to edit the specific corners that are causing problem,s using the different tools available in the mesh generator program
 
alternately with meshes you can increase "radius" which is the distance from edges considered to be non-navigable, such as walls. However a global change like this could potentially cause issues in zones with slim paths to walk as it effects the distance from the edge of drop-offs as well.
