Question - KISS vs. various mq2 plugins, especially holyshit downshit

Hey folks,

I've done a decent amount of reading here, and I think I get the gist of how stuff works overall.

That said, which mq2 plugin manipulations best amplify the effectiveness of kiss itself?

For instance: I am still thinking I could do more when my tank gets low health with this own disks and some of my support guy's discs. Also, I'd like to have more intelligence on multiple pulls where my bard misses mez for instance.

If I start modifying mq2melee using kissassist will the holyshits and downshits give me the flexability for this?

as a rule I never mess with kissassit I find other ways to modify stuff, kiss works wonderfully! What you need is holies to do the stuff you want....

I've tried to do everything through kiss so far, but I am realizing I can probably do a lot more!

Other than looking at enabled plugins for update.exe are there specific mq2 plugins that kiss uses by default?

I'll spend some time reading about the holies some more and start messing with them.

What you can do is totally subject to what you can understand in coding.
I understand the concept of what macs do. Reading the mac instructions tell me how to use said mac. as far as coding, I bairly understand writing holies (I have never learned coding---i still remember living without electricity and running water at my house).

KISS is a very "GENERAL" mac that has the ability to do most things for EVERY character class.

Class specific macros will (AutoCleric, AFNuke2) can do SO much more for that specific class, but then are worthless for any other class.

There are a couple of decent plugins that can help with some class (MQ2Melee for melee classes, MQ2Heals for main healers (Shm,Dru,Cler), MQ2AFNuke for a few casters). But you will need to read each plugin individually to figure out what it is capable of, and whether it would be good for you (and experiment to see if it is actually still functional as some haven't been updated in awhile)).

Holies/Downs go into the MQ2Melee section of the specific .ini (and K8 uses MQ2Melee, KA9 CAN use MQ2Melee, but i don't think i needs to).
If you read most macs, they should tell you what plugins the REQUIRE some will even auto load the ones you need (as i KNOW KA does).

I personally like the use of holies/downs as it allows me to better specify when something is used. They can get tedious, and can become a bloat. My Tank (SK) has 7 downs, and 35 Holies (25 dealing with named mobs specifically). My casters are average 20 Downs, and 2-5 holies). My BST, is at about 20 downs/20 holies. Also note MANY of these are very specific to my group setup and style of play.

Thanks Meistro. That really helped a lot.

I am still running 8.5.5 s I should try 9 and see what extra features are there and then decide what if any other plugins to start messing with.

I'm about like you with coding. I understand the concept, and I took a couple classes way back when in college, but that's about it. I also hated it. :)

also bear in mind, what you put in for MQ2Melee works regardless of any macro running.

And by that I mean, there may be times (like when I raid or helping a friend on a specific quest) that you will want to run your toon with out a macro, but want to retain certain basic "my toon does THIS on every fight" type stuff. This is my line of thinking when I decide what goes into the macro INI, or goes into the plugin INI. (of course everyone is different, just offering my point of view)

For instance I have a number of item clickies to use during melee, I generally put those in the plugin. I put my "burn" or damage boosting stuff into the macro (the macro I use has a specific section for named fights) along with defensive measures.

My reasoning is, this way if I accidentally target say an uber merchant and attack, at worst I might fire off a quickly refreshing item (I generally also put HP<98 on my checks) but I wont suddenly start firing off damage boosts or defensive discs. Same for raid/quest/special named fights... when those things are needed at a specific moment, I can pause the macro (or kill it, or turn off named/defensive on the fly) but the "normal" fight stuff still gets fired off.... like if my SK gets below 60 he starts lifetapping or clicking his BP.
