Problem - Heals not targeting mercenary

When a character is setup to heal, when attempting to change target to a mercenary (or possibly other characters) MQ returns an error: "There are no spawns matching: (0-115) any"

EDIT: This mostly happens on heal spells set to !MA - they attempt to cast on the MA anyway

This is happening with both my Shaman and my Druid. If I enable DPS casting on either character, the majority of the time they cannot target the mercenary, and will cast the heal on the mob. They will continue chain casting heals on the mob until OOM. The current solution is to target the MA tank, and turn off all DPS / Melee to stay targeted on the Merc tank.

I also see the same error message on my ranger occasionally when she attempts to nuke the mob she has targeted.. ?!

What can I do to resolve this, or how do I collect more information to help track down the problem?

If i have no target (after looting for example) EQ spams "you must have a target for this spell" quickly, and many times. Sometimes the merc will get targeted after several seconds, sometimes it won't. Usually I have to manually target the tank to resume healing. It doesn't seem to matter what heal spells I use, or least not that I have noticed.

Buffs target the Merc just fine. DPS spells target the mobs just fine. It only seems to be related to healing.

So merc is MA tank... and druid/shaman set to assist MA.. and you get the "i am assisting (MA's name)" when you kickoff ka on druid/shaman... correct?

Lots of targeting issues with heals in general. Even my rangers emergency heals cause the "There are no spawns matching: (0-115) any" error.

After the error, the heal spell casts on current target, and KA reports "Healed *Intended target" even though the heal did not go to that target.

DPS and buff spells seem to have no issues targeting. And as far as I can tell it's not an issue with combat routine vs healing routine, as the problem persists even with dps and melee turned off.

I'm not sure if lizardboy was aware or was working on changes to heals... still waiting on 8.2.7 changes he coding himself.... if this wasn't on his radar/changes for 8.2.7.. I need to touch base with him and look into this and fully debug it to isolate issue.

I was hopeful and excited to test the new version, but I just finished testing with new compile and new macro v8.2.7:

Still borked.

Heals intended for mercs are still not finding target. Even when the healer PC is doing nothing else but heals, they cannot target the NPC Merc's for heals. They can however target the NPC Merc's for buffs during combat, such as Barkspur (short duration buffs).

I've had very limited success setting the merc as Xtarget for heals.. but it's pretty hit or miss. I haven't narrowed it down any further, sorry.

I changed the line you called out Maskoi, even using Xtarget to try to work around the merc healing problem, it still gets the spawn not found error and can't target. I'm running a few more tests now and getting some debug code to look through.

Why is even casting Chlorotrope on the MA Merc? The heal was indeed cast, on the mob, repeatedly. Until finally it triggered Karana's Renewal, which did target the merc tank (at about 30% health) and got the spell off at 2% health. Some funky stuff right there.

Yes. This test setup is just 1 druid PC and 1 Merc tank. The merc is targeted, and /macro kissassist is entered. My role in the INI is set to ASSIST.

I'm currently doing another test where there are no conditions set on the heal spells, and the druid is doing nothing but healing. I will reply with results of that test.

The last heal it attempts in combat comes back with NO TARGET because the mob the heals were being cast on was dead.

It does not always fail to target the merc, but when it does it just gets stuck in a loop healing whatever target is currently targeted instead of the intended heal to the merc.. until a different heal spell is called true, then it may or may not come out of that loop. I can get out of the loop by manually targeting the merc, letting it cast the heal to get him above the health % triggering the heal.

Then it may or may not fall into the same loop next time the health % returns as true for a heal.

and then a heal that did target the merc. Directly after that, it tried to heal target 0 again, but the merc was still targeted, so the heal landed on him anyway.

From what I can tell, that should fix it. The most hurt code is not returning the clean name when calling singleheals.

Adding this change to the to the official release... will be notated in patch notes....
Also changes that NPC to Mercenary issue at the line you mentioned.... healing a NPC... BAH.. SLAP.. lol
