Question - Good kissassist spot to PL/Level...

I have an 85 Heroic Mage I'm using to PL my group of level 60's (Druid, Bard, Cleric, Enchanter, Rogue). I'm trying to get these toons caught up to my Mage. I can't use the Bonechip mac because I have no Wizard or Druid high enough. I just want to park them, using cleric to heal as needed and bard songs. The rest just sponge XP (Only until they can actually land spells, take hits.)

Alternately, I can remove the Mage and replace him with a 58 SK and do level appropriate zones. Either way is fine.

I can't find a decent spot to set up. The areas are either too full of trees and hills, too many adds for my Mage to handle, or it is heavily traveled (I do AFK sometimes). I'm not in a major rush, nor am I broke so "speed killing" and loot isn't real important, as long as it's decent EXP and manageable with what I have, that is all that matters to me. Anywho, I could use some good suggestions on decent spots to get them to 85, if anyone has any, please?

WoS in the tunnels...mage pet can easily take these afk....spawns are slowish but not too bad. You can modify the bonechips mac to use a fellowship campfire.

Even though there are only a few mobs I liked this room in WoS. Never any player traffic.

Also, The Paul camp in Hills of shade was pretty nice, although it might be a bit tough at level 85 with only a mage. Could also try Plane of Fire either in the fields of the second part of the zone or in the second castle.

Yep that's the spot I like but I usually set up inside the tunnel right by the end room. With a mesh file you might be able to pull entire tunnel.......I usually spend an hour or two here getting toons up to 70 then head to grounds but being that your highest toon is 85, might have to think of something else after the lowbies are 70.

The PoFire camp is pretty good too. Some of the easier SoD zones (OGH, FoS?) might be good as well after your toons hit 70.

The rooms near the Noble's cause way zone are good, but I usually tuck in on the north side of the wall, to the west of that Dragorn Champion. You can pretty much pull the entire north side of the zone. With my 85 wizard, I can pull about 30 mobs and AE them down.

What level mobs is Noble's Causeway? I would have thought level 85 there would be too high. I might try that with my next set of lowbies.

Awesome, thanks Guys/Gal. I'll go check these spots out.

The Champion spawns in the red circle, do you mean you camp where the red X is? I ask because I have to admit, the tunnels I'm in from the above map ARE super easy and traffic is non existent so far, but the pops are waaay too slow. I'm not sure it's worth sitting in there.

You do not have to worry about the 85 heroic killing grey mobs in fact this might be something you want!

When PLing by grouping you actually want the lowest possible mobs that would give xp to the lowbie, not the high level.
Ideally you would want them dark blue to the lowbie but even green mobs killed in massive quantities afk give awesome xp. :)

Group a level 56 (or is it 57) with 85 and the 56 will get xp when the 85 destroys a level 50 zone.
The grouping formula is discussed here: https://forums.station.sony.com/eq/index.php?threads/group-level-formula.2984/

So there might be some spot with level 55 mobs which would perfect for leveling your lowbies to 70s.

At level 80 you get the con range of 20, that is a level 60 mob will still be green, so if you find a spot with level 60 mobs you could level your lowbies to 81 there.
https://forums.station.sony.com/eq/...t-is-range-of-mob-levels-that-give-xp.201198/

Forgot to mention that you can shroud your xp leeches to the optimal level for mob con, so level 60 shroud when grouped with a 85. (55 is too low). This has the advantage that you can gain xp all the way to 100(105) off leeches if you want, just takes a long time.

Note: this advice does not apply to AAs, there you get the xp based on the con from the highest level in your group, AA xp shrouded was nerfed a long time ago.

If you're powerleveling... do it right.
Take the mage with his healer merc out over to Icefall Glacier.
Buff up an Air pet, set Greater Hold...(make sure it's buffed with Velocity)
Park the lowbies invis'd and over by one of the buildings near the Shaman spell vendor in their own little group.
Have the real cleric hit your cleric merc and mage with Shining Bastion or some version of it.
Take the mage over to the Steeps zonin... target a cat... send in pet, as soon as the pet agro's the cat... back the pet off. (there's also Wolves, Mammoths and Polar Bears... 100 mage can pull all 4 groups at once)
Now make that cat run through the rest of the cats... can now throw daggers at em to pull em too.
As long as your pet is still alive, the mobs will run at full speed...be mounted (instead of 5 steps forward 4 steps back pathing that you end up with when you mass pull mobs...due to eduretardcaded programmers)
When you get back to camp you Suspend your pet, or fade him with the Summon Companion AA(if it's maxed)...this causes all mobs do their 5 steps forward 4 steps back pathing... so have them bunched up first.
Once your merc starts healing you... Fade.
Now your healer merc is tanking... he sucks at holding agro, so give him a minute to establish a good agro base.
Now, you have to do 1 point of damage to each mob with your group of lowbies.
Several ways to do this, Bard/Cleric/Druid have Point Blank AE spells...use a low level one or you'll steal agro. (PBAE spells are the ones with Purple Icons)
Since these are probably to high to land spells on you might have to use the Rogue with Throw Stone.. Throw Stone/Target Next NPC/Throw Stone... until you've hit em all takes a while if you have to do it this way... can do it in a lower level zone that the bard can land spells in until he's high enough to land em in Icefall...
Now that you've done 1 point of damage to each mob with the lowbie group, hit the merc with your highest damageshield Flameshield or whatever.
And use your big damage shield every time it's up..Surge of Shadows. (not the one that ' Lashes out ' at attackers cause it will steal the xp)
Can go from 1 to 80 pretty quick doing this.
make/find a throwstone macro if you have to do it the rogue way... they're simple.

I do wirlins method but with a mage + chanter. Chanter runes up. Pulls everything he wants to kill. Runes one time to set aggro. Newbies do whatever damage they can to get exp. I then maximize the damage shield with the mage. Chanter can tank all of that zone easily.

Thank you all for the advice. It is much appreciated. I actually opted to remove the mage from the equation and stick with the SK. I've got all my INIs rolling I'm just having trouble finding level appropriate zones to stick em in (Based off the SKs level, I'm only AA exping the rest for now). The SK is only 59, whilst the rest of my group are all 68 (Druid, Bard, Cleric, Enchanter, Rogue). Right now I'm in Barren Coast, but I'll be outgrowing that very soon I think.

what about plane of fire? or crypt of decay? honestly CoDecay is amazing to level up til you are high enough to go to PoFire

I honestly did this

City of mist if my character has throw stone, shroud if doesnt til about 40-45ish
if I can get to 46 in CoM ill go to PoNightmare or disease till I am level enough to go to Codecay
after codecay ill hit pofire till 70, and after 70 I just group with my 100s

didnt want to edit, figured I would make a new post so others could see this

at 46 I got into PoInno or maybe it was 50, but 55 opens up PoFire so instead of codecay at 55 and did 2 pulls from 55 and went with my war and cleric both at 55 to 67.. so I figured I would share that..

Any 70+ suggestions? The server I'm on isn't heavily populated, but the "popular" zones are just that so it's tough.

FYI for anyone reading this and wondering, when my SK hit 64, the rest of my group was 68/69, I sent them all to the tunnel in WoS. 2 days, about 6 hours per round, never once saw any one. Group is now all 70 with SK sitting at 68. Pretty easy, only 2 deaths because KS likes to randomly stop working.

One thing I would caution about WoS and other zones from this expansion is that the mobs rampage and summon like crazy. So...

1. If your newb runs up to the group of mobs to cast, they MAY take damage from the rampage
2. If your newb gets too much aggro they will get summoned into the pack and killed quickly.
3. If your puller has a DS on and gets hit during the pull, the mobs will summon over and over making it hard to pull. Best to fade and click off the DS.

Here is my pull route. The green circle is where I tuck my noobs. The green path is (loosely) my first pull. I just run around that entire section and pull what I can. The yellow path is the second pull (again loosely).

To PL my toons, I usually take the level 1 to corathus creep and do the quest there. I think it's kill clicknars, sesslinoids, and dwarfs and gnomes. That gets them to about 50. then take them to Wos and do the PL pull however you can. I use a mage and a cleric merc, pull the green, let my merc get heal aggro then Circle of Flameskin/weave. I have the noobs hit them around 50% health. When they get to 70 I can group with my level 100s so I take them to any number of afk spots in RoF. Usually Grelleth, CR, or CC. If you go to a lower level zone like CC or EW, you might level a little slower but you'll get tradeable gear. When my toons are 70, I run the skills macro on them. At 85 or 90 I will go ahead and get spells and have them help the group.

If you want to group with them in lower level content, the zones in HoT upper are usually very empty. SS is really popular for afk'ers on my server. Also EB or even the basement in HoT.

RoF, CR, CC, EW, EB... all these abbreviations. I'm still relatively "new", I don't know any of these.

Off the top of my head:

RoF - Rain of Fear
CR - Crescent Reach
CC - Corathus Creep
EW - Eastern Wastes
EB - Erudin Burning

No need to be sorry. I appreciate the help. You guys on this forum are way more helpful than the people I've met in game since returning and it is appreciated.

Hey there Bored Duck,

My post does not answer your question directly, but I did want to pass along some information. You mentioned your wizard is too low level to do the quest. You can do the bone chip quest in Kaladim with a level 50 wizard. If you don't have a level 50 wizard, using a fellowship campfire and gate back to Kaladim will get you a level 50 wizard in a few hours.

Now, once level 50 have the wizard bind all those doing the quest to Kaladim. (Get faction for the evil toon in Crushbone until the guards will not attack you, should not take too long). Now get three toons to Brells Rest. Either through guild hall, another wizard portaling you there, or if those are not available, recruit 3 new accounts. One of the recruit rewards is a token that can gate the toon to Brells Rest. Only get one per account and it has an hour+ cooldown. Get three toons to Brell and create a campfire. Make sure all toons are in a fellowship first and have the fellowship teleport insignia.

Now that you have a camp fire in Brells, just park your wizard and the two new recruits at the camp fire. The PL toons then use the campfire and and gate back if they can. If they can not then the simple level 50 solution is to have the Wizard simply translocate them to their bind spot.

With this setup you can have as many toons as you need at teh same time doing the quest, and not one portal is used by the wizard.

Just thought I would throw that out there.

Either way good luck! :-)
