Sorry if this isnt the appropriate spot to post...not sure where else it might go.

My box group was just contacted in-game by a GM while afk-macroing. Luckily I have an audio trigger to alert me when i get a tell; i replied to him within 2 minutes. He was polite and curteous, asked how my day was going, and responded to my greeting, but then didnt ask any more questions....I immediately ended all my macros, and waited eight minutes for another tell from him, but there was nothing else. I tried sending him a tell, but it appears he went offline, so I'm not sure what his intentions were.

I've been afk-macroing for the past 3 days, usually logging out every 8-10 hours before resuming; this morning i took a 3 hour break but had been logged in for 12 straight hours when he sent me a tell. While I play in a well-populated zone, i respond to camp checks and tells, and occasionally talk in general chat, and try not to do anything suspicious. So, i'm not quite sure what would have brought the attention to me, but I just wanted to give a heads-up to anyone else who may be in a similar situation...pay attention. I dunno if this has anything to do with the release of a new expansion, but just thought y'all should be aware. Good luck.

most likely he just wanted to look at you and see if you would respond at all... you did... so they are content... if you didn't then you might be posting about getting banned... lol...

NOTE: NO... ABSOLUTELY NO macro is designed to be FULLY afk... so walking away from your computer for even 10 minutes is a bad idea... going to the bathroom real quick... or simi watching a movie... or even to make you a sandwich is ok... running to the store to do all your shopping because you forgot and your wife faction is down now... bad idea... leaving it up while at work... bad idea... afk macroing while asleep... yet again bad idea...

i use a VPN and have my macros talk to each other... and i have some very smart bots but i still won't walk away for more than 10 minutes... my macro responds to camp checks... and has tons of features that make it so i could walk away... but i still don't feel safe enough to walk away... because theres still always the off chance that someone will send me a tell asking me something that i don't have a auto response to...

Sounds like you are doing everything right. Getting caught AFK is usually from being on 24/7. If you aren't in the most popular camp in the busiest zones GM's will usually leave you alone.

The new expansion just came out so GMs are out more than usual as well so SOE can say they are still combating MQ2 and afk macroing. So its a good idea to be careful for the next month or so.

The only macro I tend to run AFK is cskillup and that's only when I use an instance or my own private guild hall.

I saw some noob sitting at a spell vendor using an AFK cskillup macro a few days ago - IN THE POK LIBRARY! I sent him multiple tells, to which he never responded. I then sent him a tell saying that he should b a lil more careful when using them, cause if the right person were to come along, he would probly get banned. No response again. I /who alled him a few times as i was XPing and for about the next 5 hours he was showing in PoK. Then he logged. May wanna tell the newer MQ2 users they should have a care. It's people like that that get the GMs looking harder.
