As most of you know, after server merges, you are allowed a free name change if an X was added to your name as well as a free server xfer for 1 character. I was thinking, since whichever character has more /played time gets to keep the name, you could make a new character on the merging server and keep it logged in for longe rthna your alts played time to get a free name change for an alt... so really all you have to do is leave EQ running on some comp and not play your alt till merger.

The name change applies to total time played. IF you make a character on a to be merged server that has more time then your alt, your dealing with level 1 toons....

Ummm... The last server merges are 20 days away at least. It is very possible to have even a 65+ char with less than 20 days playtime, depending on how they were leveled. Of course this'll have very limited usage, but /shrug, dunno why it wouldn't work.
[edit] checked out of curiosity, my 55 cleric has 8 days playtime, and that's including several weeks of VERY slow macroed leveling and hours sitting in the guild lobby in case people needed rezzes. So yeah, with a solid PL I don't doubt you could do 70 in under 20 days.

I'm doing that right now and getting a message saying my charachter is not eligible for a name change.
Wonder if it's because I went to the server on one account and made a toon with the same anme before /movelog....
Tried spamming it too and it keeps saying the same message.

20days? shoot I plvled my wizard to 70 with 100 aa in under 7days /played With right systems you can do 1-50 first night then 50-62 in like 2 days then 100aa in a week then 70 in the next week. All I know is that I had my wizard with aa and 70 and also suspended for a week before the free trial wore off :P
