Hello,

Just want to warn everyone that I got a tell from a GM today while in Forgotten Halls. I was lucky that I was there and answered her within 10 minutes. She did however question me on how I was AFk but still kiting. I told her that I always go AFK while kiting so people dont send tells my way. Told her that it is hard to type, run, slow and Dot. I am going to lat low for a bit with Macro Quest.

In case this happens again, what is the correct thing to say?

"Speak no english" usually is the best response but if they really press it, start to tell the joke "The Aristocrats". Please see this link for multiple variations on the joke - The Aristocrats.

In all seriousness, what you said is fine (Aristocrats would have been better), just don't put your AFK flag up.
 
What I do is put up an afk message that says I'm watching a movie that takes up half my screen, including my chat box so I can't see chat, while kiting. I've gotten tells from GM's and they've never taken it any further.
 
Lol this stuff is posted on these boards u dont think that just maybe a GM has access to this site by paying like us? its nice to share this stuff but in the end this is how stuff gets nerfed hehe....this really cant be nerfed but it could be watched so much that it wouldnt be worth going afk..In a side note i would like to say I hate them dam GM's always taking our fun away :p
 
Actually smoking I think they could nerf this which sucks :( :( . They would prolly make all the mobs lvl 1 or something like that so we could get no exp off of them. :mad: :eek: :mad:
 
Well if they made all the mobs lvl 1 it would be pointless to even have it around at all so i am sure they wouldnt do anything that drastic but they could keep the EYE on that place lol
 
Or make the mobs summon... Or add one that does deathtouch... or... There are a lot of ways they could nerf the tactic.

I don't afk macro... So I don't worry about it much.
 
If they wanted to effect change with this zone, they would have done so by now. I call Troll on this one IMO.

All they need to do is make mobs assist.

That is all.

They are not. The reason they are not is because they KNOW people are using this to lvl quietly. Key word, is QUITELY.

They are not effecting change on the servers, or hurting anyone. I you don't think they run queries on time spent in FH by user etc....then your stupid. If they wanted to shut us all down, they would. Simple change. No accounts banned, just change how the mobs work.

I think as long as the community stays quiet about it, I think it will stick around. Honestly, the XP isn't any good. They know were just "messing around". We're not trying to hack anything or break anything, just want to get XP.
 
FHalls has had GM's patrolling it since it became popular, so this isn't news.

BUT, we can salvage this post by posting your most creative GM deterring AFK message.

Mine was (and yes, this one worked), "I'm kiting and masturbating at the same time, this is very hard and obviously takes up both of my hands so please leave a message here and I'll get back to you after this kite."
 
i too got a GM tell yesterday (sunday) on SolRo but i was not there for it mised it by a mear 4 hours

Handling Gm's

Everyone tries the nice polite and contrite way. I have my macro's set up with on events for say and tells. I have actually had a gm talk to one of my AFK Macros.

The conversation went something like this.

If kiting a reply "wait" macro continues kiting
another message "wait" continue Kiting
mob dead loot up go to med spot sit wait a minute or 2.


Reply you got money or going to give me a whack of free AA's?
if not you better have a darn good reason for bugging me..

Who cares what they say! Blah Blah Blah!!

What you got to be kidding fuck off.

This actually happened to me one time. Never heard a thing about it afterwards.

I got my attitude towards GM's from when i was actually playing the game. I was a naughty Necro and had Guides and gm's after me weekly.
At first i wasted my time arguing and explaining. Later I learned just to tell them to fuck off.

If a GM is going to Ban your arse nothing you can do. So why be nice about it. And insta camp on tell is admissable in a Court of Law as an aknowledgment of guilt on your part.

I would strongly advise against any further comments that may incriminate anyone in the likely possibility this is a hoax.

Your looking for another zone to do your macroing in? Do a search, you already paid the money for access.

I don't think it'd be wise for any of us to divulge said areas just in case this is an SOE employee looking for places to watch for AFK'ers.

If this is all legit, they know what you were doing. They looked at the logs. If they wanted to ban you, they would have.

If u like ure account(s) i would always worry about it..U think they are checking on people to blow some time?? I would think not my friend so IMO u like ure account be cautious about what u do for a while :eek: I dont care about eq anymore really so i try everything lol :p
 
Shouldn't this be moved to the nerfed section because god knows when you legitimaly need a GM, they are not on to help you nor are would they be able to solved your problems.

GMs have been nerfed. Hearsay?
 
GM's aren't nerfed. I don't think they ever really worked to begin with. :p Either that, or they are broken as intended!
 
something you could put up for AFk message is: I'm not here atm, my friend agreed to play for me while I do a couple things and he/she doesn't speak english... or somethin along the lines of that

Same here man. They have made EQ so fucking easy it's a big joke. 5 or 6 years ago, eq was challenging. Now I feel like a fricken tellatubby skipping along when I start an alt.

My point is, if I lose my accounts, boohoo. yeah i'll lose almost 6 years of work and 100% legitimate levels and plat. But who cares? Think anyone in the game respects that anymore? Fuck no.. Anymore you're not cool if you don't buy plat or accounts. I know it's no longer taboo to do so, but I won't be doing it. If my accounts get banned, i'll start more and be even more of an ass until those are banned. :D

I sound so bitter up there. Although it's all truth and I feel that way, I was smiling as I wrote it. Hard to convey that over the internet.

I'm not worried at all, and I'm still running my bard in FH pling a couple chars. I don't have it auto get me new expeditions though. I use a higher char to get it and then i'm good for the 6 hours til it boots everyone out. I always make sure i'm near the puter when that's going to happen so that I'm never just standing at the rock for hours.

Point is, I try to play it real safe. The only naughty things I do are done inside. I'm not saying i'm somehow better or some shit because of that, just epressing how careful I try to be.

Even if I had a brush with 'the man', I wouldn't stop. I lub my bard PL sessions.


EDIT: Want to say that I have nothing against those that buy plat or accounts. I did a few years ago, but no anymore. I even want to sell plat, so i'm no "better". Was just spewing my thoughts.. So please don't tell me how much of a hypocrit I am for condemning those that buy plat while on a cheater forum. :)

Isn't that still against the eula? only wife or kids can use account.. Has it changed? Just saying that might not be the best way to skirt around trouble. hehe

GM won't call, but it will look legit. Hells ya, i'm usin' that one.

It wasn't 640k it was 64k

He was refering to amount of memory that could be directly addressed by the CPU.

Sorry, but you're wrong. It was not 64k. He was referring to 640k memory, period. But he claims that he never said that, although I don't believe that. I remember 1981 and I can see him saying that very thing, considering what computers could do then.

I think i'll take that out of my sig though.. Since he does claim to have not said it. Oh, here's one of a few links you can reference:

I was in university in 81 studying comp sci which was an Arts Degree back then. And remember the discussion well. it was in the form of argument between him and Steven Jobs (apple). I am sorry but we both right. there were discussions of memory and addressing. The 640k mem was considered massive memory back then. And since programs were like 32k 640k was huge.

The 64k was in reference to Intel vs IBM and the structuring of DMA (direct memory access) inside the CPU. Gates Jumped into the fray and between him and Intel we got to address 64k directly. Ibm wanted a hierarchy set up on 32k. That decision crippled cpu development for almost 15 years. Because now we want to be able to directly access memory in the GIGAbytes but were and still are in a lot of ways hindered by that 64k limit.

Going to have to hit the garage and go through 30 years of junk cause i know I have that statment on video somewhere. Christ thats a job ...

Wait a minute won't be that hard I was Using Beta back then. Now I just got to find a player LOL

main computer still only uses that 640k :) the extra is used by programs for various informations, but all the main tasks are run thru the original 640. at least that was my understanding. I have been trying to teach myself all this computer stuff for about 18 years when the pc junior was out and I thought kings quest in 4 colors was great :) main comment then was, if you want windows, buy a mac.
 
to be honest, i have never ever been suspected of useing mecro, only one person in the whole game knows i have something not ligal but he dosn't realy know what it is. never got a tell from a gm, and i check logs cuz i have two window and one just got tells. i used to put up an afk tag saying can't talk kiteing. but now i don't even do that. go /a and people don't ask if you wanna join them. no one bugs me and i run it like a mad man. i also warp, though i am carful about that. if a GM ever sent me a tell when i was there or not i wouldn't care because i need to quit EQ and if i get banned it forces me too. only way i can play now is because i have mq2 to do it for me. it's like niceret gum.
