This is not for anything but entertainment, and if you are interested in EQEMUlators, a little insight on what the hell an emulator is. But mostly I am bored and I know I love to browse these forums for interesting stuff to read, and I felt like giving someone else something interesting to read.
What is EQEMUlator?
First off, lets look at the deffinition of Emulator.:
There you have it, an Emulator for EverQuest would be someone(s) copycating the EverQuest1 Live files and creating their own servers to play on.
What is the content like?
The content, or gameplay, is depended on the server OP's (operator's') desires and wishes. There are 3 (three) major groups that these are divided into:
Ligit
Ligit servers are made to 'emulate' EverQuest1 with precision and dedication. There is one current server doing this. "PEQ" or "Project EverQuest". PEQ gets my kudos in effort and dedication for sure. They are stable and their GM staff are top-notch. This means they do not bugger into player matters, they often do not talk to players unless needed, and they do not show favortism or 'dis-favoritism'. This is a great server for people who miss the old EQ, although they are already inside the PoP "Planes of Power" expantion.

Custom-Ligit
Custom Ligit servers are a blend of EverQuest1 Live servers and at the same time, contain a twist of imagination from the devolopers of the GM team. These servers are fun to play on. For me they create the 'been there done tha-...OH COOL!' feeling. The server that support this function (that I noticed) would be the "Jest" server. The "Jest3" server holds content you WILL find inside of EverQuest1 Live, but at the same time, many monsters, items, and spells are tweeked and modified. You might also find in PoK "Plane of Knowledge" a 'buffer' or 'scriber'. The 'buffer' and 'scriber' NPCs (non-player characters) have the ability to buff (make your character toon better for a amount of time) or 'scribe' or give you spells for your class and level. The jest server gets kudos from me for content. I did notice a lack in GM communication or support, and the server has the most god awful lag spikes. I was told (cough, after many attempts to reach ANY gm or server ops) that is it not going to be laggy forever. (I asked about 3 months ago)

Custom
Custom servers specialize in giving you, in all reality, a new game. For example, the KMRA (King Mortenson's Raid Addicts) server has a lot of different concepts that flow into a custom designed, and intracate system of leveling, gear, and story line. The KMRA server emulates EverQuest1 Live only as far as character and zone models go (prehaps alot of the spells and items at the lower levels). But with a custom and different view. For example, the starting zone is in Vex Thal, and there you can find your epic 1.0s and fun gear you wish you had on your level 30 twink. One might ask the question "well doesn't that defeat the purpose of a challenge?". The short anwser: NO. the long anwser: The monsters and spells grow more powerful as you gain in levels and gear. The maximum level for KMRA is level 87, with the best player's HP maxing out at 140,000 buffed. This might seem a bit wild, but keep inmind the monsters also get beefed. For example, the level 87 raid zones have monsters that hit for up to 50,000 damage un-cripples and un-slowed. 'Tacvi' is an instanced zone which, when you enter it (through FelwithB!), You can start a 'trial' to speak with Tunat (or kill him instead). The monsters in here hit 1-30k! To sum this up, if you like excitment, enjoy ass-kicking, or you are just looking for something fun and even, this server is for you.

Where?
What do you like most about it!
Anything cool other than those two things?
