Problem - eqgame.exe has stopped responding at character select

So I've used MQ2 in the past with ISBoxer without issue. I just reactivated a subscription and am attempting to use it with just the default client, but when I boot up the client and it goes to the character selection screen there's a brief second where I can see the MQ2 GUI then the game freezes and I get the error message "eqgame.exe has stopped working" and it force closes.

So far I've tried a clean install of both MQ2 and EQ, uninstalling and reinstalling .net, installing dx9, disabling antivirus, and removing all the plugins. I'm still getting this error with the force close. Everything is being run as administrator.

Any advice on fixing this issue?

Just to be sure: You're not trying to run MQ2 on the Phinigel server are you?

ah, I guess its not working on Phinny. Bummer.

Well MQ2 will not work on Phinny. I'm not sure why it would be crashing out on other servers unless your game data is out of date or some such, but MQ2 is not supported on any site (mothership or any other compile site) for the Phinigel server. You will also be unable to log in multiple toons from the same computer. Is every toon crashing at char select, or just the ones after the first toon you load in?

I don't even get to the point where I can choose a character. The game crashes immediately upon loading the character select screen when MQ2 starts up.

Are you able to log in normally without MQ2 loaded? If so, what's your plugin list from your macroquest.ini? If not, it's not a MQ issue, and I'd recommend doing a "File check" or whatever the launchpad calls it to make sure you have your game files up to date.

So what server you trying to play on?

Phinny? We can't help you' NO MQ on Phinny, and no boxing from same computer.

Others TLP, Live, or Test? Then there might be a solution to your problem.

I play phinny but the crash happens on every server. This problem isn't really an issue because MQ2 won't work on phinny anyways.

I have it also after I try log onto AB with any character but it works if I load MQ2 then WinEQ2 that will work fine but the second I run MYSeq sever after I've chosen any character I will get to the stage just after loading zone files message then it gives me a promt window saying
Eqgame.exe has stopped working and windows it checking for a solution. It's totally baffed me check out my post on it even added a screenshot.
