Problem - EQBC slow after a while?

Running eqbcs in high priority will cause my eq processes to lock up after awhile and I will need to kill the processes and restart. Currently this I have confirmed multiple times while running your version of eqbcs mule, and repeatedly on my laptop. my desktop I can't swear it's happened on, but I am fairly sure it has. I leave it at normal and I never get a freeze. However, I can corroborate Sicprofundus' statement that eqbcs will degenerate in responsiveness over time if run this way, and after awhile I will *always* have one out of my six boxes start responding significantly slower than the others, and sometimes this will be up to 2 minutes later. All boxes will start reporting slower on things like end of combat xp etc. When reponse lag gets too great I have to restart everything to get responsiveness back again to a reasonable time-frame.

I actually experienced this last night. It took me a while to figure out why my toons were not responding (I /bca //camphere for example). In fact, it appeared to "lose" some of the commands, and I had to re-issue them. Next time it occurs I will see if an eqbcs restart fixes, but as it was 1am and I had work in the morning I just logged off instead ;)

I run eqbcs on a separate computer for this reason. it's not designed for the kind of load we put through it nowadays and needs to be completely rewritten, don't get fooled by the "eqmule version" tag, I did not write it, I just made it somewhat workable and fixed a couple bugs, but it will sure degrade performance overtime, running it in high prio helps mitigate sluggishness.

I use an old old version by xeniaz, that's run better then the one is current vv release. I don't know what is different, it still has its connection drop outs randomly.

But I tried the vv release from a fresh boot/load up of chars and immediately noticed substantial delay in messages/responsiveness from my group.

Changed to high priority and still seemed a bit iffy, swapped back to the old version and I just live with the occasional disconnect and what ever other enhancements I miss from new one.

Would running the new one in real time priority on its own local machine make all the difference for this, and any ideas on a script/way to terminate and restart the server every so often?

I don't know if it would make a difference. I used to run mine on a server I use for other stuff and didn't have problems. I don't use EQBC any more though. Setting it to high priority just means it is less likely to cede CPU to other processes.

As far as restarting the server, a scheduled task of net stop eqbc && net start eqbc will solve that for you (assuming the short name you give the service is eqbc).
