Need some help. Trying to figure out why the cleric in my group will sometimes attack before the tank (SK), which I play, has not even attacked the mob but is targeted.

It can even be I'm talking to a quest giver and the cleric tries to attack. Or I'm trying to pull and he engages before I even try to split mobs.

Running very vanilla. I do have the cleric set up as assist in his INI and do have DPS turned on with yaulp, Turn, celestial hammer, the feather and horn in there.

I keeping looking for a reason and I can't figure it out. I figure it is something in my ini or in MQmele.

Thanks!

Very Vanilla is the "flavor" of macroquest we have here.

I'm guessing you mean you're using kissassist?

there are a few possibilities

you have it set to engage at 100 (which is not recommended with kiss)
you are using your intervention on your tank when you have nothing on xtarget which will nuke your target's target
you are using something like curate's retort and it is nuking your target's target

Yeah was going to recommend setting your assistant on cleric to 98% or there is always the ability to use mq2cleric if u have the plugin paid for or if u are on test server that way u can turn attack and nuke off and they won't assist til 98% but will heal

Correct, using kissassist and pretty much using your INI for the cleric.

It does have intervention in there:
Heals22=Sincere Intervention|99|MA
Heals24=Merciful Intervention|85|MA

He does buff with:
Buffs13=Jorlleag's Retort|MA

[Melee]
AssistAt=99
MeleeOn=0
FaceMobOn=1
MeleeDistance=75
StickHow=snaproll rear
AutoFireOn=0
UseMQ2Melee=1
TargetSwitchingOn=0

you will probably want to add a condition to each of those. something like only if you have xtargets for the interventions, and if your MA isn't targeting something for your buff retort.

otherwise, as mentioned, you will nuke your target's target with the interventions and the retort
INI:
Buffs13=Jorlleag's Retort|MA|Cond15

;Sincere Intervention - "insta duration" heal set for MA only
Heals22=Sincere Intervention|99|MA|Cond14
;Merciful Intervention - "insta duration" heal set for MA only
Heals24=Merciful Intervention|99|MA|Cond14

CondSize=15
Cond14=${Me.XTarget} > 0
Cond15=!${Me.GroupAssistTarget.ID}

Buff line is:
Buffs13=Jorlleag's Retort|MA

Just noticed this was in there:
Heals17=Jorlleag's Retort|99|MA|Once|Cond10

with:
Cond10=${Me.GroupAssistTarget.Named}

Should I change it to be:
Cond19=!${Me.GroupAssistTarget.ID}

I ran some tests last night as I was having the same issues with Retort aggroing. Using Cond=!${Me.GroupAssistTarget.ID} my cleric would still throw a retort on the main assist during downtime even if he was targeting a mob which ended up pulling it. I switched it to Cond=!
${Me.XTarget} > 0 and it fixed the problem. So if you have anything in your extended target window the cleric will not cast Jorllaeg's Retort. The issue with this condition is it would never fire in battle as a heal, so I moved it to the DPS section with mob hp at 99 so it will only fire when a mob is being damaged.

Buffs1=Jorlleag's Retort|MA|Cond1

DPS1=Jorlleag's Retort|99|MA

Cond1=!${Me.XTarget} > 0

I haven't had a chance to do extensive testing on how often the spell is firing now vs. before, but I am no longer pulling mobs through walls by accident while trying to med which is a bonus.

Also Sic pointed out to that the SK buff Confluent Disruption will aggro nearby mobs if you receive a heal. The spell that procs off of a heal has a range of 50 so you need to be close, but if you are in a situation where you are near friendly npcs and the cleric tosses a heal you can aggro the nearby friendlies. Best to remove the buff out of combat if you are in a zone with a mix of KOS/non-KOS mobs. An example would be the geode guys in Crystal Caverns, they are indifferent and if you are pulling terrors or spiders and camping near a geode you will aggro it through Confluent Disruption even if you never target one.

I did add this to my cleric.ini (Cond18=!${Me.XTarget} > 0 ) last week. But it was to the Intervention line:

Heals22=Sincere Intervention|99|MA|Cond18
Heals24=Merciful Intervention|85|MA|Cond18

The cleric would heal out of combat and if my tank had someone targeted he would heal with this and blast the target.

All seems well now.

Maybe I'm missing something but isn't the logic reversed from what it should be? Assuming your xtargets are set to AutoHater then if you have anything on Xtarget it should mean your group is engaging it and it's safe to use Intervention to heal? At least that's how I'm interpreting it.

@Jojobeans You need to get rid of the ! or the >0 don't use both. !${Me.XTarget} - Evaluates to TRUE if nothing in Xtarget and FALSE if there is. ${Me.XTarget} - Evaluates to TRUE if something in XTarget and FALSE if there isn't. ${Me.XTarget} > 0 - Same as ${Me.XTarget}.
