Can't get MQ2 working....at all - error in inject

I've tried 3 pc's, windows 7, windows 7 and windows 8.1 and I follow the instructions to the letter, read all the posts, watched the video 10x, deleted and redownloaded the files at least 5x and no matter what I do I get "Openprocess(#) / Error in inject". I have .net4 and if I try to dl that again it says it's already installed. I've checked directx which is fine. More, I have an ancient version of mq2 I got off another site and it works but it's crazy outdated...I think it says 2004 and only has like 5 plugins.

On all 3 pc's I run the mq2 exe as administrator (or not, doesn't matter) at the character screen and it will give the inject error and show up in the tasktray. I do not get the loader at the character screen or in game, nor does any plugin or macro work so it simply does not work. If I close out and load the v2004 mq2 I get no error, I get the loader at the character screen and my few plugins work. On the new mq2 I've tried enabling all plugins, does not work, then I tried disabling all plugins just to see if I'd get the error and that crashed mq2 so bad, it error'd out every time I started it, so I had to delete and completely reload the vanilla zip, the rgupdater and restored the uifiles from EQUF. I'm back to before now. Fresh install, fresh files, still does not work, still get inject errors on every computer. I don't know what else to try. What else will help? Should I copy the ini files on here? I tried comparing the 2 and they are vastly different. The old has plugins like xxx=xxx, the new has plugins xxx=0 or 1.

any help appreciated. I paid for lvl2 subscription to get this and still can't get it to work. Oh and I've tried this over the last 35-40 days....didn't simply try for 10 mins and post on here. I've literally done everything I can...thus 3 different computers.

Thanks

The other times I've seen this error are when people are using an outdated version of EQ (make sure you run EverQuest.exe once to update), or are downloading the wrong compile (i.e. accidently downloading the test compile) or are using an old compile (a shortcut on their desktop links to an old MQ2 version).

1. make a shortcut to "C:\Program Files (x86)\EverQuest\LaunchPad.exe" (or wherever u have it at)
2. click properties on it and check the run as admin checkbox
3. now do the same to macroquest2.exe check the run as admin box as well

4. click the macroquest2 shortcut, it should ask u if u want to launchi it as admin, click yes
5. at that point u should see a mq2 icon in your tasktray
6. now click the Launchpad shortcut, it should ask u if u want to start it as admin, click yes
7. when u see the play button click play
8. when u are at character select u should see the mq2 window.

sometimes when people are logged into windows "as admin" they think that everything they run is run "as admin" which is why I want u to actually set the checkbox, or rightclick the shortcuts and select run as admin from the mousemenu, cause just being logged in "as admin" wont run stuff "as admin" hope that mkes sense...

@maskoi - no, playing EQ UF dl'd from a legitimate source, the updated version linked to on eq project 1999. Playing various servers such as p99 and roxor's server.

@redbot - its fair to say that. I'm using eq titanium to play p99, etc... I can accept that this wont work with that if that's the next response. I would say that multiple people have said i need to get the updated version and they are using it... The number one thing i want to work is /twist on my cleric.

@eqmule - i do start it by right-clicking and choosing "run as admin". But i will try the method above and post results.

Thanks for the responses all
