I'm having this same issue so instead of starting a new thread, figured I'd tag along here for an answer:

I can't seem to change any of the settings - whenever I try to adjust the .ini file (or in this instance, save a new 120 version of it) the file overwrites itself to an older version. There's only one KA .ini file and its located in the config folder. I copy and paste over all the content of the old file but as soon as I load /mac kiss assist it just resets.

Tried the above suggestion and specified the new file name, but the same exact thing happens, resets the whole .ini file to the older version with the new pathing name.

There are a couple of small, yet important changes with MacroQuest vs the old MQ2 as explained > HERE <

Moving to MacroQuest mental notes:
your ini configuration files (like for kissassist) now reside in your "Config" folder and not your "Macro" folder

you would start kissassist with /mac kissassist (you can do /mac kissassist assist) and not /mac kiss assist unless you specifically had a macro renamed to "kiss.mac"

your ini would be kissassist_charactername.ini in your config folder - this is where you would edit/adjust

starting kissassist would create a blank/default kissassist_charactername.ini in the config folder if one didn't already exist for that character

Make sure when you’re editing, that you end in game Mac, close all your current inI editor and open up the latest saved kiss inI. If you keep an editor open and kissassist actively running, the active process wil keep overwriting your template every time u make a change in game.

So I double checked the file locations and followed both suggestions. KA is all located in the config folder and I made all edits before even logging into EQ. In game I made sure to /mac kissassist. Same thing, as soon as I load KA it reverts back to an old saved version.

I noticed this was only doing it on one toon after I copy/pasted the new lvl 120 ini, it was beeping, ending, and reverting the war from Tank back to Assist. Instead of pasting the new version in, I just retyped Tank into the role line, ran the same routine and this time it stuck. Not entirely sure why it'd stay when typed in while reverting when pasted in, but it seems to work now.
